Fly fishing is an activity that affords enthusiasts the opportunity to take in beautiful natural surroundings while perfecting an advanced fishing technique. For beginners, however, there are some things to keep in mind when venturing out on the first few trips. Among these are the water itself and its role in fly fishing.
Fly FishingIt is important to learn how the flow of the water
affects fish when new to fly fishing. Both still water and fast-moving water aren’t likely to contain many fish, but it is vital to find an area where there is some movement of the water. Trout who are focused on navigating moving waters are less likely to look at a fly critically, meaning they are more apt to bite as they are forced to make a quick decision.
When fishing in an area one isn’t familiar with, it’s also helpful to find a local who has knowledge of the waters and where the best spots are. Nearby bait and tackle shops are usually a good resource for this information.
