“What is Truth?”

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." "What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him.”

- John 18:37-38 NIV

“What is truth?” Pilate’s question is still with us, though few are those that ask it with any more

sincerity than Pilate did. People have reason to be skeptical about truth in a world where “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” is hard to come by. Wisconsin, one of the men in my church told me how he and his wife had come to Christ. Back in the mid 70’s they took a pile of books and headed off to a hunting cabin to get away from the world for a while. While there my friend began reading a Bible. He had been through Sunday School and Confirmation years before and had promptly left the church when he was done, deeming it irrelevant. As he read the Bible, things he had learned in those childhood days began to come back to him and as an adult, things he had not understood as a child, began to make sense. He was seeking truth and in the Bible he was finding it. One day, while walking in the woods, he came to know the person who is Truth in a personal way when he put his trust in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. We never know what impact we have when we share the truths of Scripture with others or when we share our own stories of coming to faith, but like seeds scattered on rich soil, God has a way of watering that seed, letting it sink deep, take root and in his time brining it to bear living fruits of faith and changed life. The important thing for you and me is to come to know truth personally in Christ and share openly what we have found – truth. God’s truth… it’s precious, and though skeptical, the world longs for it; it longs for what is real.

Pastor Garry

Dear Zion Church Family, Thank you for the opportunity to talk a little about my upcoming work in Madrid, Spain as well as your gener-ous gifts. I was blessed by everyone who contributed through the offering, who came to me after the services, and who have since asked about ways to be involved. I am so grateful to have such a loving and committed church behind me as I work with my team in Spain. Thank you again for your support of my ministry! In Christ, Erin Kampbell

BOOK RECOMMENDATION for APRIL . . . So Long, Insecurity by Beth Moore Perhaps one of the biggest issues all women face is their own insecurity. Beth Moore, one of today’s most admired and trusted Christian writers, wants women to be free from the insecurity trap. So Long, Insecurity will strike a chord with women eve-rywhere, as Beth speaks truth into the lives of readers, showing them how to deal with their innermost fears, rediscover their God-given dignity, and develop a whole new perspective—a stronger sense of self. Women of all ages and backgrounds will resonate with this message of security and discover truths that will free them emotionally and spiritually and lead them to a better life as they walk with God.

~ AWANA NEWS ~ Clubbers of the Month for February: Sparks – Allessandra Arnold & Isaac Ashford; T&T – Anna Schick & Austin Rhamy and Trek – Jordan York. Great job, Clubbers! Keep up the hard work! Grandparents Night – We hosted the clubber’s grand-parents on February 28th. It is always a lot of fun to watch the grandparents as they follow their grandchil-dren through the evening and show them what they do in AWANA. Thank you to the Staff that provided the cookies for the evening! AWANA Games was held on Saturday, March 6th at WNCC Cougar Palace. Sparks competed at 1:00 and came in 2nd on their circle. Then at 3:00 the T&T Girls took the floor. They also placed 2nd on their circle. Zion didn’t have enough T&T boys for our own team so two of our boys joined Calvary Memorial’s team - and placed 2nd on their circle - and another one of our boys joined Alliance Berean’s team – and placed 3rd on their circle. I was very proud of all of our clubbers that com-peted! Thank you to Michael Olson, Katie Mehling & Martha Stricker for coaching the Sparks team and Carol Parvin and Lindsey Schanaman for coaching the T&T Girls. Also, thank you to Andy Griess - line judge; Martha Stricker - nurse; Randy Stricker - announcer for the afternoon; Deb Pieper - scorekeeper; Carli Rose, Zach Pieper & Zach Van Dyke for taking tickets and Cheryl Rose - head scorekeeper. We had a great after-noon!!! Grand Prix – Grand Prix was scheduled for Friday, March 12th. Unfortunately, I ended up making the ex-ecutive decision to cancel it after I made phone calls to parents and discovered that there would be less than 15 participants. At our staff meeting on March 7th, we talked about moving Grand Prix to another time of the club year as we have so much going on in February/March/April with Bible Quiz, Games, Spring Break, Palm Sunday & Easter. We talked about scheduling it on a regular club night in October/November. So our next Grand Prix is tentatively planned for Sunday, November 7th. We will see how these new changes work out . . . Tom & Sandi Hofmann – It is with bittersweet feelings that we will be bidding farewell to Tom and Sandi Hof-mann in a few short months. They have been our AWANA Event Coordinators for the past 15 years and now that they have become official AWANA Missionar-ies, they have accepted an opening in the panhandle of

Florida. They are being honored on April 25th at Rick & Fairy Hattan’s church in eastern Nebraska. Sev-eral of our area AWANA clubs are also working with Tom & Sandi to come up with a date in May/June for a celebration in western Nebraska/eastern Wyoming for those that may not be able to make it to the Open House in April. Please be watching for details. God bless you, Tom & Sandi, as you begin this new God-given adventure! We love you and will miss you! Please stay in touch!!! Camp Rock Night – The last regular club night be-fore Jamboree is when we have Rick & Marie Parker (or other representatives) from Camp Rock come to club and get us all excited for the upcoming camp season. We will look forward to that on April 25th! As of this writing I cannot believe that we only have four regular club nights left!!! We don’t have club on Palm Sunday and Easter and then Jamboree is Sun-day, May 2nd. End of Year Reward Party/Finishing Handbooks – As we do every year, there will be a reward party for all clubbers that started & completed a handbook this club year. This will be after Jamboree on a day to be announced later. I would also like to encourage those clubbers that are finishing up their handbook from last club year . . . even though they are not eli-gible for the reward party, they may still be in line for a plaque/trophy. So, please contact a leader/director or myself over the Palm Sunday/Easter Break to say sections! Finish strong!!!

~ The Commander Commentary ~ My Commander Commentary for this month is a testi-mony of God’s faithfulness and encouragement to us as we serve Him. 1. At the Sunday afternoon regular club meeting (that was after the Friday night that Grand Prix was scheduled and I ended up cancelling due to minimal participation), the Staff was gathering for prayer time on the stage before club started . . . all FOUR of us!!! (Usually we have at least 15-20.) At that point – with this still being the continuation of Spring Break weekend – I felt a twang of discouragement wondering if I should’ve cancelled club, too!?!? We got into our very little circle, held hands as usual and I proceeded to pray. When I said, “Amen” and we looked up; there were A BUNCH of Staff surround-ing us!!! When they came in the door and saw us standing there, they could’ve just thought, “Oh well,

(Continued from page 3) they’ve already started” and gone on their “merry way”. . . but they didn’t!!! I commented that “Where two or three are gathered in His Name, Christ is there . . . and more come!” It was a “goose-bumpy” moment to see them all standing around us! 2. This same night as I am looking around the room at 3:25 (we start club at 3:30) and there are maybe 10 clubbers there. I felt slightly discouraged again and started thinking that I should order pizza for my staff and the “10” clubbers. I also remember thinking that A LOT of clubbers were going to have to FLOOD the en-trance in five minutes!!! I left to go do something – came back 5 minutes later and guess what God did??? Brought 50+ clubbers through the doors!!! My 2nd boost of confi-dence from God in about 30 minutes of time!!! (The Creator of this Universe cares about my discouraged feelings!) 3. The following was posted on Amy Burton - my Cubbie Di-rector’s - wall on Facebook: A Cubbie parent came up and told me that she was telling her son that she wished she could calm the wind and she told him that only Jesus could and she began to tell him the story about Jesus being on the sea, and her son told her the complete rest of the story on his own. She said where did you learn that and he said “AWANA”! Those moments make me proud to be a Cubbie Leader and Follower of Jesus Christ! (Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the boosts of confidence that you send my Staff’s way, as well!!!) 4. One last comment . . . in the last several weeks I have received a couple of sizeable donations to the Zion AWANA Ministry. We have some large purchases coming up for the Jamboree Awards Ceremony and it is incredibly encouraging to receive these “boosts of confidence” along with notes of encouragement! May God richly bless you all for your mone-tary gifts and notes of encouragement!!! Looking forward to celebrating the death and resur-rection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and serving breakfast to my church family on Easter Sunday with my AWANA Staff! Please join us in the Ministry Center for great food – breakfast casseroles, baked goods and fresh fruit, and a wonderful time of fellowshipping! Hope to see you there!!! Remember, GOD IS IN CONTROL and is in the “business” of encouraging His children! Cheryl Rose, Commander

As a special treat, a friend of mine donated 61 Beanie Babies to hand out to each child. The kids really enjoyed receiving them. We only have one more month to serve this school year. Serving for Christ, Terry Martin

………………………………………………………… LADIES GUILD: The Ladies Guild met March 1st with 18 ladies present. Following the hymn singing and the recognition of birthdays, prayer requests were taken. It was discussed and approved to have a professional cleaner do the kitchen floor once a year. It was mentioned that Violet Knaub had a roaster to donate to the kitchen. It was gratefully accepted. A motion was made to support Erin Kampbell with a donation of $100 per month for her missionary work in Spain. Motion passed. The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer. Hostesses were Joyce Kautz, Sharon Lemley and Martha Stricker. The next meeting will be April 5th at 7:00 p.m. Helen Maier

MOPS at Night: Happy Spring from MOPS @ Night! We had an exhausting but fun weekend in our cab-bage burger factory! Thank you to everyone who purchased cabbage burgers and put up with the lingering smell last Sunday! At our last meeting of the month we were

blessed with special music and a testimony. We have a couple of our MOPS moms that are going through some struggles. Please pray that they will lean on God for guidance and strength and that we, as a group, can be the support system they need. Our April meetings will be April 13th and April 27th at 6:00. We welcome anyone who would enjoy a little mommy time!

Blessings, Andi Hale

………………………………………………………… YOUTH: This is always an exciting time of year when it comes to doing youth ministry. It's the time of year when I usually begin to notice just how much some of the students are really beginning to mature in their faith. I have been greatly enjoying the group of high school students I am currently working with every week. They have been faithful and consistent all year long and are now wanting to continue our Bi-ble study through the summer months. Another exciting aspect of this time of year is the opportunity to invite our newly confirmed eighth graders to move up to join our high school group. I look foreword to seeing how the new students fit in and interact with our older students. March was a pretty typical month as far as our weekly youth group activities were concerned. In addition, we took a combined junior high and high school ski trip on March 20. We had a group of 32 students and adults

make the trip. The roads were good, the weather was beautiful, and there was a lot of fresh snow. I had so much assistance from parents that this trip was very easy to plan and carry out. Thank you to all the adults who participated: Roger and Sheri Schwartzkopf, Tim and Melanie Kreider, Todd and Deb Pieper, and Erik Harris. Honestly, the support and encouragement I get from all the adults of this church makes my ministry here at Zion a true joy. Thanks to everyone for your continued prayers and support. Thanks, Andy
