This recording project captures a diverse spectrum of musical moods, from thesimple hymn setting by Michael Praetorius of "Lo, How a Rose Ere Blooming", to jazz influencedarrangements making full use of the capabilities of the brass quintet. Two works bear special mention. The "Noels" are six settings of old French melodies in arrangements for brass sextet (with added

trombone) by Georges Delerue and Jean Claude Petit. The translations of the titles are as follows:"Saint Joseph who Washes", "Song of Peace and Fruitfulness", "Adam Comes From the Hand of God","Entrance of the Cow and Grey Donkey", "Song of Christmas", and "Rise and Come Along".Commissioned especially for this recording by the Beaumont Brass, the "Christmas at BeaumontTower Suite" by Michigan composer/arranger John Moss features five holiday standards in uniquesettings. Following the opening fanfare, Moss presents: "Here We Come a Wassailing", "Still, Still,Still", "Good King Wenceslas", "Silent Night", and "Deck the Halls".
