    Introduction The end of World War II resulted in a new

    beginning of a subculture as an aftermath ofmaterial restrictions that created the perfectsituation to grow the beatnik culture.

    Beatniks were a media stereotype that began inthe 1950s and continued on into the mid19!0s. Itcharacteri"ed and displayed the di#erent aspectsof the beat generation .
