UH HDBEARL NBEARLON UH (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) is a premiumvirgin grade polyethylene which is used extensively in commercial andindustrial applications. It has a molecular weight of 4,500,000g/mol,and has improved wear and abrasion resistance, combined withoutstanding impact strength, even at temperatures below -200°C.

BEARLON UH has excellent chemical resistance, low moistureabsorption, a low co-efficient of friction and superior anti-stickproperties. It is often used in high-wear applications, from wear stripsunder conveyors to guide rails in bottling plants or scraper blades onroad rollers.

Larger BEARLON UH sheets are used for lining bulk storage hopperswhere low friction, anti-stick and abrasion-resistant properties solvefeed and wear problems. Sheets are available with planed orunplaned surfaces. Extruded profiles and wear strips haveapplications in the materials-handling industry, andBEARLON UH is also available in self-adhesive tapes.

Temperature range: -269ºC to +70ºC.

Polyethylenes are ideally suited to many mechanical, chemical and electricalapplications, principally because of their outstanding friction and wearcapabilities. BEARLON HD has excellent chemical resistance, very lowmoisture absorption, low co-efficient of friction and anti-stick abilities.BEARLON HD is able to be welded.

BEARLON HD is widely used in the food, fish and meat processing industries, where it is used extensively in cutting boards and table tops. Its non-absorbentand easy-to-clean nature help to maintain essential hygienic conditions.

The general engineering field uses two basic types of nylon and, whilsttheir physical properties are broadly similar, individual differences willaffect their end use.

BEARLON 6, in both cast and extruded grades, offers the optimumcombination of mechanical strength, toughness, damping properties andwear resistance. Its electrical properties and good chemical resistancemake it the general purpose grade for most mechanical, construction andmaintenance applications.

BEARLON 66 has a higher mechanical strength, stiffness and toughnessthan extruded BEARLON 6, although the unmodified cast BEARLON 6grade shows similar characteristics. BEARLON 66 has better heat, wearand creep resistance, but impact strength and mechanical dampingability are less. It has superior machining qualities and is well-suited toautomatic lathes.

BEARLON LF is a greenish-coloured, oil-filled castBEARLON 6 nylon which is totally self-lubricating. Thisinternal lubrication has been especially developed foruse in applications that rely on unlubricated, highly-loaded and slow-moving components, with the resultthat BEARLON LF has considerably enlarged theapplication possibilities of standard cast nylons.

Because of its self-lubricating properties, BEARLON LFexhibits a co-efficient of friction that is 50% less thanstandard cast nylons, and has a wear resistance that isup to 10 times greater.

The food grade, oil-lubricated version of BEARLON LFcombines superior bearing properties with an FDA-approved formulation (21CFR, section 177.5 and others)for food processing applications. Continuous oil lubrication, built right into the nylon, means reduced friction, higheroperating speeds and no need for external lubrication.

BEARLON LF retains the other physical properties whichmake cast nylons so effective in many applications. It hasgood mechanical strength, creep resistance over a widetemperature range, excellent sliding and machiningproperties and dimensional stability.

Temperature range: -20°C to +100°C (-20°C to +70°C in water)

BEARLON GSM is nylon which is stiffer, harder anddimensionally more stable than unmodified nylon. Theaddition of MoS2 (molybdenum disulphide) creates astrong crystalline structure which enhances bearing andwear behaviour, without impairing the inherent impactand fatigue resistance of cast nylon.

BEARLON GSM is self-lubricating, quiet in operation, and its lightness contributes to low inertia, whichis often a factor under stop/start conditions. It is easily machined, has good load-bearingcapabilities and its low co-efficient of frictionmakes it ideal for many bearing applications.

GSM CBEARL NBEARLON C is a hard engineering plastic derived from thepolymerization of formaldehyde. It is highly suitable for automaticmachining and precision mechanical parts. It exhibits high tensilestrength, hardness and impact resistance. The low moistureabsorption of BEARLON C gives excellent dimensional stabilityfor close tolerance parts, such as bearings and gears.

BEARLON C is a copolymer acetal and, compared to ahomopolymer, is more resistant to hydrolysis, strong alkalis andthermo-oxidative degradation; but has slightly lower mechanicalstrength, stiffness, hardness and creep resistance.

BEARLON C is widely used in mechanical components andelectrical insulators where exceptional strength is required forabove-average temperatures or moisture levels. It is FDAapproved and can be used in contact with food, especially inliquid environments. BEARLON C is available in natural or blackin a range of rods and sheets.

Himould® CONVEYOR ROLLER END CAPS

PILLOW BLOCK INSERTS X-Lube® BUSHES

A superior nylon-6 material impregnated with molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) is used in the manufacture of Himould® end caps. This combination helps to lower friction, resulting in less wear and added self-lubricating properties, making them ideal for applications where roller lubrication is intermittent.

Himould® conveyor roller end caps are designed to be a push-fit into the tube, with running clearance built into the bore.

Bearlon manufactures an extensive range of thermoplastic inserts for cast iron bearing housings. These bearings are easily fitted, self-aligning and are typically used where bearing loads and speeds are relatively low, allowing them to often run completely unlubricated.

Pillow Block inserts are generally moulded in UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular-weight polyethylene), making them ideal for use in watery environments and food applications. All inserts are pilot-bored or can be machined to specific size on request. Both metric and imperial sizes are avaialble.

X-Lube® bushes are designed to provide an extremely cost-effective alternative to traditional metal bearings. These plastic bushes are moulded to the highest quality standards and are available throughout Australasia.

X-Lube® bushes use a superior nylon-6 material impregnated with molybdenum disulphide (MoS2). This additive lowers friction which helps to reduce the need for lubrication and increases the life of the bush.

These bushes have generally been designed with an interference fit on the OD to allow for a good push-fit into the housing. An additional clearance has also been allowed in the ID so that when the bush is installed, it will have the correct clearances for most applications.

If in doubt about the correct fitting and clearances of X-Lube® bushes, contact your nearest BSC branch. Other factors such as temperature variation, moisture absorption and bearing speed may mean additional clearance is necessary.

X-Lube® bushes are available in plain (P) or shouldered (S) configuration and are normally moulded in MoS2 filled nylon-6. However, other materials such as acetal can be supplied for specific applications, although minimum order quantities may apply.

X-Lube® bushes are produced from special tooling. This tooling is cost-effective and ideal for production of bushes for special requirements.
