    1.0. GENERAL

    1.1 Seven Associat ions in the State ofTamilnadu have formed a Consortium in the

    name of Consortium of Self Financing

    Professional, Arts and Science Collegesin

    Tamilnadu, where majority of the Engineering

    Colleges are members. The Consortium has

    been granted permission to admit students

    in undergraduate engineering courses

    (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) in various private

    professional colleges underthe Management

    Quota in the state ofTamilnadu on the basis of

    the marksobtained by the student in the relevantsubjects in the qualifying examination by

    Committee to Oversee theAdmission made

    by the Consortium of Self financing

    Professional, Arts andScience Colleges,

    Chennai vide its Proceedings No. : COA / B.E./

    B.Tech. / B.Arch, / MBA / MCA / M.E., / M.Tech,

    1.2 A Candidate desirous to seek admission for

    Professional Courses under managementquota must have passed the Higher Secondary

    Course (HSC)examination and also those who

    will beappearing for the Instant Examination

    conducted by the State Board.

    1.3 Applying to Professional Courses (B.E /

    B.Tech/B.Arch) Admissions 2010 under

    management quota does not confer onthe

    person the right of eligibility foradmission

    to any of the Professional Courses. The

    decision on the eligibilityof the candidates

    for admission to acourse entirely rests with

    the respectiveauthorities.

    1.4 The admission shall be made on the basisof

    the rank list drawn which includes theacademic

    marks obtained in the relevantsubjects in the

    qualifying examination after normalization of

    marks.

    1.5 Admission into every professional education

    institute other than minority professional

    1.7 MODE OF SELECTION

    (a) Admission to General Category : Thselection of candidates will be on the basis

    the marks they have obtained in the prescribe

    subjects in the qualifying examination.

    The academic marks in the prescribe

    subjects will be reduced to a base of 20

    (Mathematics 100, Physics + Chemistry

    100). Ranking of the candidates will be don

    based on the total marks to a maximum of 20

    Normalization of Marks and Inter-se Meri

    Tamil Nadu Act No.3 of 2007, dt : 5 th March,200

    and G.O. Ms.No.77, Higher Education (J2), d

    5th April, 2007 the marks obtained by th

    students in the relevent subjects in the qualifyin

    examination conducted by various Boards

    Authority shall be equated with the mark

    obtained by the students in the same subjec

    in the qualifying examination conducted by th

    state Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting th

    method of normalization. (e.g) if the highe

    marks secured by thestudent of State Board

    Tamil Nadu inPhysics is 100 and the highe

    markssecured by a student of any other Boa

    inthe same subject is 90 both the highestmar

    will be considered to be equal to 100.If a stude

    of the other Board secures 60marks in Physic

    when the first mark in Physics in the sam

    Board is 90, the 60marks will be considered

    be equal to66.66 marks as arrived at below

    After normalization of marks in the relevant

    subjects in the qualifying examinationconducted

    by different Boards, the qualified students of

    different Boards shall bemerged into a common

    merit list.

    A merit list will be prepared based on thetotal

    marks of 200. In cases where morethan one

    Candidate have got the same marks in the

    common merit list, the inter-se merit among

    such Candidates shall bedetermined in the

    order of priority asspecified below :

    (1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics,

    (2) Percentage of marks in Physics, (3)

    Percentage of marks in the Fourth optional

    subject, (4) Date of Birth, (5) Randomnumberassigned (higher value will be givenpreference).

    The overall rank lists will be published inthe web

    site of Consortium of Self - Financing

    Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in

    Tamilnadu, Chennai atwww.tnsfconsortium.org.

    and the copiesof the overall rank list will be

    made available for member colleges and

    committee tooversee the admissions made by

    consortium of self finacning professionalartsand science colleges. The candidateswill also

    be informed of their rank individually by

    certificate of post.

    (b) Admission of Vocational Stream

    Candidates: Vocational Stream Candidates

    ranking will also be as in the case of HSC

    academicstream candidates. The academic

    marks in the prescribed subjects will be

    reduced to a base of 200 (Related subject 100

    marks, Vocational subject including theoryand

    practical 100 marks).

    2.0 ELIGIBILITY

    2.1 Eligibility for admission to ProfessionalCourses (B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch)

    Application forms for admission to various

    professional courses together with details of

    minimum marks to be obtained in individual

    number of attempts to pass the qualifying

    examination, improvementmarks and physical

    standards can beobtained from the respective

    admittingauthorities.

    However the minimum qualifyingexamination

    required for variousprofessional courses is as

    follows.

    Engineering

    (I) Qualifying Examination

    (a) A Pass in HSC Examination (Academic)of the 10 +2 curriculum of the Government

    provision and does not mean thatthe Candida

    satisfies all the requirements stipulated f

    3.0 INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES TO FIL

    APPLICATIONS

    Candidates desirous of applyingProfession

    2010 to the Consortium should file the

    application in the prescribed format through an

    of the following two modes:

    4.0 MEMBER COLLEGE DETAILS

    The details about the member colleges are

    available in the Website of the Consortium

    (www.tnsfconsortium.org) and respective

    member institutions websites.

    5.0 INSTRUCTIONS TO FILL THE

    PROFESSIONAL COURSES (B.E. / B. Tech

    / B. Arch) ADMISSIONS 2010APPLICATION

    FORM (DATA SHEET)

    A. General Information

    a) The six digit application number should be

    noted down by the candidate for future

    reference. Instructions should be readcarefullybefore filling the data sheet. Asample filled in

    application form (data sheet) is given in

    Annexure I for reference. Rightmethod should

    be followed to darken thealphabet/numeral with

    HB pencil as shownin the data sheet.

    b) The required information should be writtenby

    black ball point pen in rectangular boxes

    (wherever provided). Then the appropriate

    alphabet/numeral underneatheach box should

    be darkened usingHBpencil.

    c) The data sheet will be processed by amachine.

    The machine picks up only darkpencil marks.

    Therefore the alphabet/numeral should be

    darkened using HBpencil only. The sample

    filled in applicationform (data sheet) is given in

    Annexure Imay be referred to fill up the data

    sheet.

    d) A wrong marking can be changed byerasing

    the darkened spot completely and the

    appropriate alphabet/numeral should be

    darkened.

    e) The data sheet should not be spoiled,

    smudged, scribbled, torn or stapled. Nobell

    pins should be used. No markingshould

    be made anywhere on theapplication form.

    h) All item nos.(from 2 to 24) in the data she

    should be filled up by candidate in allaspect

    candidates who belong to non minori

    community. Silimlarly a candidateshould

    item No.16a or 16b depending on his/h

    qualification. Incomplete application

    application filled in a languageother than Englis

    will be summarilyrejected.

    i) Options filled by you in the application form (da

    sheet) cannot be changed at a later stage.

    B. Specific guidelines to fill up the variou

    items of the aplication form (data sheet)

    5.1. Item No. 2 :Name of the Candidate The nam

    should be written neatly andlegibly in capit

    letters as given in 10thclass certificate usin

    black ball point pen.Single letter should bwritten in a box. Then the correspondin

    alphabet underneath each box should b

    darkenedusing HB pencil. If your name require

    morethen 30 boxes, darken the star(*) in th

    31column of the first row.

    5.2. Item No. 3 :The date of birth should beentere

    as per English calendar and asrecorded in 10

    class certificate. Numeralsfrom 01 to 31 shou

    be used for date.Numerals from 01 to 12 shou

    be used formonth. Last two digits of year

    & year should be darkened. Theattested xerox

    copy of the Date of Birth proof should be

    enclosed.

    5.3. Item No. 4 :PINCODE of yourcommunication

    address should be written inthe space provided

    as it will be entered inbox 14. The correspondingboxes shouldbe darkened underneath .

    5.4. Item No. 5 : PINCODE of your permanent

    residence should be written in the space

    provided. The corresponding numerals

    underneath should be darkened.

    5.5. Item No. 6 : The corresponding numbershould

    be entered in the box and the appropriate

    numeral should be darkened foroccupation.

    5.6. Item No. 7 : The corresponding numbershould

    be entered in the box and the appropriate

    numeral should be darkened forincome of the

    parent/guardian.

    5.7. Item No. 8 :Appropriate numeral givenagainst

    the community should be written inthe box and

    the corresponding numera should be darkened.

    5.8. Item No. 9 to 13 :The appropriate number

    should be entered in the box and the

    corresponding numerals should bedarkened.

    5.9 Item No. 14 :Name & Residential Address for

    communication should be written neatly and

    legibly in capital letters using black ball

    Single letter should be written in a box. Much

    care should be taken while filling the address.

    Arecent passport size colour photograph should

    be affixed in the provided box.

    5.10. Item No. 15 : Candidate should affix their

    signature(within the provided box) using

    black ball point pen.

    5.11. Item No. 16a : HSC academic/equivalent

    passed students with subjects Maths,Physics,

    Chemistry and fourth optional subject should

    maximum marks for each subject in the

    respective box and the corresponding numerals

    underneath shouldbe darkened. Group code

    should be enteredas in the +2 Mark sheet.

    5.12 Item No. 16b : This should be filled by the

    students those who have studied H.S.C.Vocational group only with Maths orPhysics or

    Chemistry as the related subject.

    a) Related subject and Vocational Subjects

    (e.g. 1)

    (i) If the maximum marks in the related subject

    (say Mathematics) is 200 and the marks

    obtained is 95, they should beentered in related

    Subject I column and the related subject II

    column should be left asblank.

    (ii) If the Vocational Subject consists of onetheory

    and two practicals and if themaximum marks

    are 200, 200, 200 and themarks obtained are

    180, 190, 200 respectively. They should be

    entered in(i)VocationalTheory(ii)Vocational

    Practical I and (iii) Vocational Practical -II

    columnsrespectively.

    b) Related subject and Vocational

    (i) If the maximum marks in the two related

    subjects (say Mathematics and Physics) are

    200 each and the marks obtained are190,185

    respectively, they should be entered inrelated

    subject I and related subject II columns

    respectively.

    (ii) If the Vocational Subject consists of on theory

    and one practical and if the maximummarks are

    200 and 200 and the marksobtained are 172

    and 180 respectively, then they should be

    entered in vocational theory and vocational

    practical I column and thevocational practical II

    column should be leftas blank. Group code

    should be entered asin the +2 Mark sheet.

    5.13 Item No. 17(a) :Code No. of theExamination

    Board should be entered asper the Annexure

    II and the correspondingnumerals should be

    darkened if the candidate belongs to HSC

    (Academic /Equivalent).

    5.14 Item No. 17(b) :Code No. of the Vocationalsubjects should be entered as per theAnnexure

    III and the correspondingnumerals should be

    darkened if the candidate belongs to HSC

    (Vocational)

    5.15 Item No. 18 : If a candidate has passed the

    HSC (Academic / Vocational / Equivalent)exam

    in the first attempt, or by improvementexam,

    he/she has to write the number in the box

    provided and darken the corresponding

    numerals.

    5.16 Item No. 19 :The Candidate should enterthe

    register number of the HSC (Academic /

    Vocational / Equivalent) of the final attemptin

    the box and the corresponding numeralsshould

    be darkened. If the Register numberhas any

    alphabet it should be written in the first box

    (shading of the alphabet is not necessary).

    Numbers should be written follwed by the

    alphabet. If the number ofdigits are less then

    eleven first few boxescan be left as blank.

    If the Register number has no alphabet, thefirst

    box can be left as blank. If the numberof digits

    are less then eleven first few boxescan be left

    as blank. Month and Year shoul be entered and

    the corresponding numerals should be

    darkened.

    5.17. Item No. 20: Mobile number should be

    entered and appropriate box should bedarkened

    5.18. Item No. 21a & 21b: Appropriate box shouldbe

    darkened.

    5.19 Item No. 21c & 21d: This item is applicab

    only for the candidates who belong tominori

    community. Non minority candidates need n

    fill this item and can be left blank.

    5.20 Item No. 22: Write the name of the bank,plac

    of bank, DD Amount, DD number andDD Daneatly and legibly.

    5.21 Item No.23: The number should be entere

    and the corresponding numeral should b

    darkned.

    5.22. Item No. 24:DECLARATION:

    Place, Date, Name, Mobile No. Phone No.an

    E.Mail ID should be written neatly and th

    declaration should be signed by both th

    candidate & Parent / Guardian.

    The application form (Data Sheet) withoutth

    signatures of candidate and signature ofParen

    Guardian is liable to be rejected without an

    further correspondence.

    4. Applications not received on or before the

    due date, not in the prescribed form, not

    correctly filled up or in respect, of which the

    prescribed certificates anddocuments are not

    enclosed or do nototherwise fulfil the terms of

    theinstructions will be considered defectiveand

    are liable for rejection without notice.

    The Secretary, Professional Courses (B.E /

    B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions 2010 will not be

    responsible for any delay in Post or otherwise

    in respect of receipt ofapplication after the due

    date. No further correspondence will be

    entertained on matters pertaining to the

    ProfessionalCourses (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch)

    Admissions 2010.

    5. This information Brochure is also availablein

    our website www.tnsfconsortium.org.

    6. Candidates are requested to put a tickmark in

    the relevant boxes provided in thecover and also

    requested to write the six digit application

    number in the spaceprovided for it.

    7. Community Certificate obtained from other

    states will not be considered for communal

    reservation.

    8. Candidates are advised to post thecompleted

    application by speed post /registered post with

    acknowlegement duewell in advance so that it

    will reach theconsortium office before the last

    date forsubmission of filled in application form.

    9. Candidates must write their ApplicationNumber

    and their Name on the back sideof the Demand

    Draft, and also on the righthand top corner of

    all the copies ofcertificates enclosed.

    10 . Xerox copy of the filled in application form(Data

    Sheet) and Demand draft can be retained by

    the candidates for future reference.

    11. Do not punch or staple the Data Sheet.Do not

    fold, smudge or scribble on theData sheet.

    12. The Data sheet should be kept looselyand safely

    and sent in the same coverprovided for this

    purpose.

    13. All enclosures can be stapled together, butthe

    Data sheet should be keptseparately in the

    same cover along withthe enclosures.

    14. The SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to

    Tamilnadu desirous of availing feeconcession

    should submit an attestedxerox copy of the

    permanent communitycertificate card.

    15. Individual Application form should beenclosed

    with prescribed fee (Refer Table 1). BulkApplication & DDwith Bulk Amount will not

    be accepted

    16. All the columns on both sides of theApplication

    Form (Data Sheet) must befilled without fail.

    17. Xerox copies of the Application Form (Data

    Sheet) should not be used.

    18. The downloaded blank application formfrom theConsortium Website should notbe used.
