BDS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017

These classes are qualifiers for the 2017 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships at Driving Addington on 23rd September.

The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the BDS and eligible for the following type sections disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place( 10th place for type sections(n)-(o) in the class will qualify for the semi finals at Driving Addington. The Championship will immediately follow the semi-finals. One qualifier per type-section.

(a) Single hackney type over 13.2hh

(b) Single hackney type 13.2hh and under

(c) Single non hackney type (excluding reg. Purebred welsh) over 13.2hh

(d) Single non hackney type (excluding reg Purebred Welsh) 13.2hh & under

(f) Single purebred Registered Welsh Cob- Section D

(g) Single purebred Registered Welsh ponies – Section A,B & C

(h) Single Registered Mountain and Moorland ( excluding reg. Welsh)

(i) Pairs and Tandems – Open any height

(j) Two Wheel Light Trade

(k) Four Wheel Light Trade

(l) Single or Tandem turnout driven to a two wheel exercise vehicle

(m) Single, Pair or tandem turnout driven to a four wheel exercise vehicle

(n) Single turnout driven to traditional type vehicle, by a young driver aged 10-14 years

(o) Single turnout driven to traditional type vehicle, by a young driver aged 15-17 years

Minimum age of driver in Open and Novice classes will be 14 years at date of show. Horses or Ponies eligible for a Novice class may not have been a Novice Champion at the Annual National Breed Show or won the Novice of the Year. Also they can only be a novice for three seasons from the start of their first show, not consecutive seasons. SHOW RULES

1. Disclaimer of liability. Neither the organizing committee nor the landowners nor any agent, official representatives or employee of these bodies accept liability for any accident, loss, damage, illness or injury to animals, spectators or any person or property. Please abide by all notices and instructions given by show officials. 2. The organizers reserve the right to cancel, alter or merge classes if circumstances arise. 3. The organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to any animal that is in their opinion unfit to compete, and this decision will be final. The organizers have the right to refuse entry. 4. The judge’s decision is final. Any threatening or abusive behaviour toward the judge or any other show official will not be tolerated and the offender will be asked to leave the showground immediately, forfeiting any entry fees or championships and no further entry to the show will be accepted. 5. Objections must be made in writing and be accompanied by a £30 deposit, to the show secretary within 20mins of the objection arising. 6. Young Drivers. A driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person over 18 years. Proof of age will be required if necessary. All drivers, grooms or passengers under the age of 14 must wear a hard hat when in the carriage or in attendance to a turnout and aged 10 or over on the day of the show. When in the vehicle they must have their feet firmly on the floor of the vehicle or use a suitable fixed footrest. 7. All dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times and cleared up after. 8. All competitors must be British Driving Society members at the time of the show. Entry forms received without current membership will not be accepted. 9. Failure to abide by these conditions means you will not be permitted to be part of this event. 10. With the exception of Class 1 (In Hand) All horses and ponies must be over the age of 4 years to compete
