For over 20 years, two researchers from the University of Washington (J. David Hawkins, PhD and Richard F. Catalano, PhD) have been examining what contributes to or protects against a child's developing problem behaviors.

National Prevention Strategy

SAMHSA CAPT’s & NREPPThe Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration has five regional Centers for Applied Prevention Technologies (CAPT’s) that offer technical assistance and resources to prevention grantees strategically placed throughout the United States.

Additional resources are SAMHSA’s NREPP, a searchable online registry of more than 220 interventions supporting mental health promotion, substance abuse prevention, and mental health and substance abuse treatment.
