BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment or EcoHomes?The new BREEAM Refurbishment scheme came into forceat the start of July 2012 and essentially it replacesEcoHomes 2006 which is gradually being phased out.
Developments with a contractual or Planningrequirement for EcoHomes can be registered until 1st
July 2014; only if suitable evidence can be provided. Allother new refurbishment sites will be eligible for BREEAMDomestic Refurbishment.
Why is this relevant?Current Planning Policies in force include arequirement for BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment‘Very Good’ for subterranean developments in RoyalBorough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Other London Boroughs have Design Guides andreferences to sustainability for basement extensionsand it is likely they will adopt BREEAM into theirCore Strategy's.
