NEWS BBA to put members first with new steering group The British Barbers’ Association is to put its members at the forefront of its future campaigns as it launches a new initiative to help it better represent the industry and its views The association, which is the leading body for barbers, male grooming salons and men’s hairdressers across the country, has launched a steering group which will guide its liaisons with the government and its agencies, and ensure that a broader range of members’ views are represented. Chaired by Erik Lander Barber Educator, the BBA Steering Group’s main role will be to contribute to and shape the direction of the organisation, ensuring that is objectives are in line with its members' views and wider industry needs. This will include providing insight on long-term strategies that support changes to regulations that help the industry, ensuring education is in place to fulfil skills gaps and consulting the profession on the future aims of the association. It will also take responsibility for the feasibility of the association’s business cases and campaigns, the monitoring and review of the BBA’s status, as well as oversight of the rollout and delivery of its initiatives and their impact on the industry. The BBA Steering Group will include representatives from colleges, large employers, self- employed barbers, the Barber Council and educational bodies from all over the UK. Erik Lander said, ‘I am delighted to be appointed Chair of the BBA Steering Group, and looking forward to working with them on projects and campaigns that will ensure continued high standards across the sector, as well as successful and deserved recognition at the highest levels for the professionalism of the industry. It’s a great honour and I intend to represent the views of everyone across the barbering industry so that together we can make a difference’. The British Barbers' Association (BBA) is the leading association and membership organisation for the barbering industry in the UK. Supporting barbers, male grooming salons and men's hairdressers across the country, the BBA works with government-appointed organisations and agencies to ensure the development of high-quality training and qualifications that meet the industry's needs. &
