A perfectly designed interior structure of thewindow frame profile with 5 insulating cham-bers prevents the formation of cold bridgesand improves thermal insulation. BAVARIAstandard sealing glazed units (Ug value 1.1according to DIN) reduce heat losses and sub-stantially lower heating bills. The use of thermaland sound insulating glazing units can be usedto obtain further improvements.

BAVARIA-EVO windows are manufacturedfrom RAU-FIPRO®. This is a high-tech com-posite fibre material that has only been usedup to now in aircraft construction and inFormula 1 technology. The unique stability anddurability of this material allows for the firsttime the manufacture of windows WITHOUTadditional steel reinforcement.

Refurbishment and modernisation – convincing facts and figures

Buildings that are older than 20 years are con-sidered to be outdated from an energy point ofview. Measures that contribute to saving ener-gy have become very important and are anintegral part of new builds and are also arequirement in some cases.

Refurbishment and modernisation, in additionto visual aspects, means improved living com-fort, e.g. by replacing draughty windows anddoors. Sensible refurbishment and modernisa-tion can reduce energy bills and increase thevalue of a property.

Heating bills can be reduced by up to 80%depending on the age and type of property byextensive refurbishment measures. The follow-ing are important for complete refurbishmentand modernisation:

Old windows let in the cold and are draughtydue to a lack of thermal insulation. Even wellsealed windows can radiate cold at a distanceof three metres. Reference is made here to theso-called "unpleasant zone". This cold radia-tion can make a room seem colder than itactually is – although a reduction in tempera-ture does take place.

With the new generation of windows, one canstand as close as 50 cm to the window with-out feeling any cold or draught.

No other prices have risen as much for privatehouseholds in recent years than those of energyfor heating. Those who cannot or do not wish touse alternative heating concepts must look tohome improvement measures. Windows anddoors are the most important home improvementelements as they can contribute to increasedheat loss compared to thick walls, depending onthe particular type of building.

Saving energy means reduced bills

U valueThe heat transmittance coefficient (U value)corresponds to the former k-value. Itreplaces the k-value as part of Europeanstandardisation. There are three different Uvalues; these are defined as follows:

| UwThe "w" stands for "window". This valuedefines the U value for the complete win-dow.

| UgThe "g" stands for "glazing". This valuedefines the U value for the glazing only.

| UfThe "f" stands for "frame". This valuedefines the U value for the window frame.

The following applies in general:| The lower the U value, the higher the heat

loss.| The smaller the U value, the better the

insulation.| Comparisons should always be made

based on the Uw value as this reflects the relevant properties of the window as a whole.

BAVARIA security packages – basic security already on standard fittings

Simple security measures can make life diffi-cult for thieves. These usually suffice to deteropportunists. Increased resistance in standardfittings ensures that windows cannot beopened by physical force alone.

Anyone wishing to protect themselves fromuninvited guests must take the necessary pre-cautions.

Additional security locking points, levering outprotection and a lockable hand lever offergreater intruder protection.

In the design of BAVARIA windows, particularimportance was attached to large dimen-sioned steel reinforcement. Owing to the over-all depth of the profiles of up to 74 mm, highstructural stability is provided and supportedby screwing the locking parts into the steel.

Feeling safe in your own four walls is also a matter of security.

Standard fitting – S

S1 security class components offer basic pro-tection against break-in attempts using physi-cal force, e.g. kicking or battering with thebody or shoulders (essentially acts of vandal-ism).

| Fitting security similar to WK1 according toDIN V ENV 1627 ff and RAL-RG 607/13 (AhS).

| All window corners are fitted with compo-nents for increased security (S-ES).

| The lockable hand lever prevents operationof the lock.

| The hand lever fastener is covered to pre-vent removal with a drill.

For its coloured windows, BAVARIA usesacrylic-coated profiles. A coating is added tothe PVC profile by means of a special techni-que. In addition to shades of yellow, red, greenand blue there is also a range of natural wood-grains, e.g. in mahogany, oak or golden oak.Due to the fine grain effect added to thecoating, a highly effective imitation of thestructure of a real wood surface is obtained.

The multi-layered coating used is made of a(coloured) basic coating made of soft PVC witha protective layer of polyacrylate and is fusedwith an environment-friendly, solvent-free hot-melt adhesive to form a permanent, insepa-rable material bond.

The advantages of this process have resultedin its outstanding position in the market:

AirComfort: automatic room ventilation – invisible, noiseless, refittable.

SGG BIOCLEAN® glass is self-cleaning. Thisinnovative glass cleans itself naturally.

SGG BIOCLEAN® is suitable for outside appli-cations in residential and non-residential build-

ings, new builds or refurbishment and mod-ernisation and can be used for both verticaland overhead glazing.

The advantages of AirComfort:

| When the window is closed it is involved from both inside and outside.

| The ventilation facility is at the top on the sash and is thus not directly visible to the user.

| The air flow is vertical to the ceiling so as to avoid drafts.

| The design and material selection ensure that clattering noise and condensation are avoided.

| Mill cuts and bores are not necessary. For this reason, the system is easily retrofittable and dismountable, e.g. if a ventilation system is installed at a later stage.
