Baubles, Bangles and Beads

Supplies: Tools: • Memory wire necklace wire • Assorted beads and charms from 1 color family or as desired (seed beads, e-beads, bugle beads, glass beads, etc.) • Silver nail-head head pins • Jump rings in assorted sizes • Jewelry findings as desired (chains, heart toggle or lobster claw clasps, spring coils, 2mm crimp beads, etc.)

• Wire cutters • Chain-nose pliers • Roundnose pliers • Towel • Cellophane tape • #19 flexible beading wire by Beadalon® • Felt remnant or beading board

Directions: Necklace Directions: 1. Cut memory wire approx. 6'' longer than needed to go around neck with a little overlap. Set aside. 2. On towel or beading board, lay out desired beads for necklace. (We alternated foil/glass tube beads and glass bead flowers by Blue Moon Beads. Silver spacer beads were placed between each bead. For back sections of necklace, we used round glass beads graduating in size from 4mm to 5mm.) 3. String beads onto memory wire. Tape one end of wire to prevent beads from slipping off. (Note: there should be enough room between beads so beaded strands can be added in between them.) 4. When satisfied with arrangement, tape other end of wire and set aside. Head Pin Strands Directions: 1. Slip assorted beads onto a head pin. 2. Grasp wire just above top bead and curl tail around round-nose pliers to form a loop. Grab loop and, using fingers, wind tail around head pin, just above loop. Cut off excess wire and attach jump ring to loop. 3. Create several more head pin strands in same manner, using varying combinations of beads. Jump-Ring Chains Directions: Use several sizes of jump rings to create large chains as follows: Using round-nose pliers, open jump rings just enough to slip another jump ring through. If desired, add bead or other charm to ring. Continue adding jump rings in same manner to create desired-length chain. Make as many chains as desired. Bead Strings Directions: 1. String seed beads, small bugle beads and spacers on a length of beading wire. Place piece of tape at one end to prevent beads from slipping off. When strand is desired length, feed wire back through next to last bead and up through wire as far as it will go. 2 String a crimp bead on other end of wire and hold in place. Feed end of wire through bead to create small loop. Secure wire loop by pinching crimp bead with round-nose pliers. 3. Attach jump ring to end of bead strand. Create several more bead strands in varying lengths. Attach small jump-ring chains to bead strands as desired. Dangle assorted charms from chains and strands, using jump rings as connectors. Assembling Directions: 1. Connect a lobster claw clasp at top of each bead strand and jump-ring chain. Attach strands to memory-wire necklace between beads and spacers. If needed, add extra beads, charms and spacers to strands. 2. Remove tape from one end of memory wire and center main beads and strands. String round beads onto end of wire, leaving approx. 2'' of space. Carefully loop wire using pliers. Repeat on opposite ends. Tuck ends of memory wire into last beads to secure.
