    December, 2013 Term 4 Week 10

    Dear Parents,

The 2013 school year is coming to an end. What an amazingly successful year we have had! Our planning

for 2014 is well underway and we currently have the construction of a new demountable classroom taking

place near the Library block and our ED class will be moved below the McMullen Hall during the vacation

period. Both classrooms will be ready to go for the first day in 2014.

Our Term 4 Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Reward Morning Tea was held today at recess and

what a lovely celebration for the class winners of the green awards. Congratulations also to the PBL Staff

Team for their ongoing work and promotion of positive rewards for our children.

  • On Monday, our school had the pleasure of listening to the speeches of the school captain nominees for

2014. The 8 girls and 8 boys were outstanding and a credit to their families and Bathurst Public School.

Congratulations to all the children who were nominated for the position of School Captain and School Vice

    Captain in 2014.

I was thrilled to receive email confirmation this week of the selection of Matthew Beattie in the Western

PSSA boys Cricket Team for 2014. Matthew will travel to Wyong from the 3rd

    - 6th

    March 2014.

    Congratulations Matthew.

Our Presentation Day on Tuesday was a very special occasion. What a wonderful celebration of the 2013

school year. It was great to see our children recognised for their efforts at such a lovely occasion this year.

    Thank you to everyone involved.

  • Don’t forget some important dates still coming up:

Tuesday 13th December – K-2 Christmas Spectacular in the McMullen Hall at 11.40am

    Wednesday 18th December – Year 6 Tunnel at 2.30pm

Wednesday 18th December – Last day of school for all children in 2013

Attached to this Newsletter is a guide for parents as to what children will require in terms of equipment to

start the 2014 school year successfully. This list does not contain books as parents will be requested to

purchase ‘Book Packs’ for their child which will be available from the front office at school. These book

packs will contain all books that children will need to work in for the 2014 school year. The cost of each

‘Book Pack’ is $20 for each child in Years 1-6 and $25 for Kindergarten children.

As this will be the last newsletter for 2013, I would like to thank all parents, friends, and children for the

wonderful and successful year we have had. It has been an absolute pleasure being the Principal of

Bathurst Public School this year. Thank you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school and of

    Public Education.

I would like to thank most sincerely the volunteers that have assisted the school to provide support to our

children during 2013. We have volunteers in the canteen, assisting with reading, assisting in the

classrooms, maintaining gardens, helping with book club, covering books in the library and changing

readers. Without the support of all of our wonderful volunteers, many of our programs, activities and

services would not operate. Thank you to all our precious volunteers and we look forward to welcoming

    them back in 2014.

To the staff, I thank you for making our workplace such a positive environment and a joy to work within. I

am amazed at the work and commitment you all show every single day. Your organisation and care of each

and every child is always paramount. Your support of one another not only as colleagues but as friends

makes our workplace special. Thank you all for your ongoing dedication to Bathurst Public School.

I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye and good luck to all of our Year 6 children. I will look

forward to watching all your endeavours in the future. It is also timely to say farewell and thank you to

many families who will also leave us this year as they no longer have children at Primary School. Thank

you for all your work, support and commitment to Bathurst Public School and Public Education. Good luck

    to you all.

A reminder that the last day of school for all children for the 2013 school year is Wednesday 18th

    December 2013. Thursday 19th

December 2013 will be a School Development Day.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new

year. I look forward to working with you all again in 2014.

Some important dates for the commencement of the 2014 School year are in this Newsletter. A reminder

    that:

Tuesday 28th January 2014 – Staff return for the 2014 school year

Wednesday 29th January 2014 – Children in Years 1-6 commence school for the 2014 school year

Thursday 30th January 2014 – Children in Kindergarten commence school

Our School Newsletter will now be uploaded every Thursday so all parents receive information at the same

    Newsletter.

If any parent has any concerns regarding any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to contact me.

  • Equipment List 2014

Please find attached the Equipment List for children for 2014. We ask that all parents ensure their child has

these items in their bag to start the new school year.

These items will ensure a smooth start to the year for all children in their new classes.

We would ask that ALL items of equipment are clearly labelled before it comes to school next year as we

find it very difficult to determine who owns what equipment when it becomes lost.

In terms of exercise books for 2014, parents will be asked to purchase a ‘Book Pack’ from the front office

at school in the first few days of 2014. These book packs will have all the exercise books, scrap books and

display books that each child will need to do their work throughout 2014.

The cost of each ‘Book Pack’ is $20 for each child in Years 1-6 and $25 for Kindergarten children. This

money can be sent to the office on the first day of school in 2014 or can be paid this year. Our office will

be opened until 3.30pm on Friday 20th

    December.

Once again, I thank you for your ongoing support in 2013 and look forward to seeing you all in 2014.

    School Uniform Committee

Our newly formed Bathurst School Uniform Committee had its first meeting this week. After looking at

some Department of Education and Communities Policy Documents, committee members wrote our

Mission Statement and Action Plan for the start of 2014. Watch this space to keep up to date and involved

with all the "goings on" as we work towards writing and implementing a School Uniform Policy.
