Bath Adult Team Adventure Treasure Hunt Thank you for purchasing our Bath Adult Team Treasure Hunt. We hope these

instructions and the hunt meet your expectations. Please let us know how it goes.

Hunt Leader’s role

In order for the Hunt to be a success and for it to run smoothly it requires a Hunt

Leader – basically someone to set up and run the hunt. These instructions should

be read only by the designated Hunt Leader. If the leader wishes to be involved as a

hunter – then they should do their best NOT to look at the answers!

The Hunt Leader’s role is as follows:

1. To read and re-read these instructions in order to fully understand how

the hunt works, and what needs to be done to ensure fun is had by all

the participants.

2. To set up the hunt by printing and copying the various documents.

3. To place the clues, map etc in numbered envelopes as instructed ready

for each team.

4. To introduce the hunt to the hunters by reading the instructions to them.

5. The hunt requires the solving of clues of various types as well as taking

some photos, and these will need checking (scoring) by the Hunt Leader

at the end of the hunt.

6. To decide on the final winning team and to award any prizes.

Overview of the hunt

1. Firstly, the hunt leader needs to set up the hunt, which involves printing

clues, the map, scavenger list etc as instructed on page 3 of this

document and placing them into envelopes

2. The hunt can begin wherever you wish – but needs to be close to Bath

centre. We have highlighted a location (a hotel) on the map as a possible

start location;

3. Introduction – The Hunt Leader reads an introduction to the teams,

which sets the scene and allows time for any questions – a copy of this is

also in the 1st envelope;

4. Each team will have a different starting clue;

5. The envelopes take the teams to various locations throughout Bath, and

require them to achieve certain things. They will earn points for achieving

these things;

6. Some envelopes include quizzes, puzzles, general knowledge questions

etc – the more they can answer – the more points they will get. They have

answer sheets on which to write their answers;

7. In the first envelope, they will find a scavenger list – they will earn points

for getting as many of these items as they can during the hunt;

8. At the final location you must check the scores and award the winners as

you see fit!

Time Limit

The hunt will last up to 3 hours. But you may determine a different time schedule.

The Clues

We have tried very hard to ensure only one solution is possible for each clue….but

even we are surprised sometimes, so should any confusion occur, judge fairly!

Hunt Leader Preparation

In order to properly prepare, we recommend the leader work through the following

list.

1. Read through the instructions, and ensure you have a good

understanding of how it works;

2. Have sufficient pens / pencils etc and cameras ready to hand out.

3. Print and prepare the Hunter Team Answer Sheets (print sufficient plus

spare). We have included a space for the Team Captain and Team Name.

4. Print 3 copies of each clue (in high quality full colour) There are 24

numbered clues.

5. Print 3 copies of the Einstein Clue.

6. Print 3 copies of the Scavenger List.

7. Print 3 copies of the Location Clues.

8. Print 3 copies of the Map of Bath – with start location marked on.

9. Print 4 copies of the Introduction (one is for you to read out loud at the

start)

10. Make sure you have the Hunt Leader Answer Sheet and Points Scored

Sheet printed and ready for your use at the end (try not to peek!!)

11. Have a prize or prizes ready (even including a last place ‘old tin can’ prize

if you wish.)

12. Using the “Envelope Preparation Sheet”, prepare 3 sets of 10 envelopes,

with team names written on a set each as we suggest (i.e. “Loos”, “Sinks”

and “Baths” as appropriate names). Number the envelopes 1 through 10

for each team.

13. Once the envelopes are prepared, you are ready to run the hunt.

Envelope Preparation Sheet

You should have printed the following:

3 Maps, 3 Scavenger Lists, 3 sets of location Clues (10 each), 3 sets of 24 clues, 3

sets of Einstein Clues, 3 Answer Sheets, 3 Instruction Sheets.

Prepare the 3 Sets of Team Envelopes as follows:

1. Write the team names (Loos, Sinks and Baths) on the 3 sets, and number

each envelope in each set 1 through to 10. You should now have 3 sets

team envelopes with their own team names and 10 numbers;

2. Envelope 1 for all teams should include a copy of the Map, Scavenger

List, Answer Sheet and Instruction Sheet. Do not seal his yet!

3. Envelope 10 should have Location Clue J placed in it for all teams.

4. The Clue Sheets are in 4 sets (1 to 6, 7 to 12, 13 to 18 and 19 to 24).

Place one set in envelope 2 for all teams, one in envelope 5 for all teams,

one in envelope 7 for all teams and one in envelope 9 for all teams.

5. Place the Einstein Clue in envelope 3 for all teams.

6. The Location Clues A through I must be placed as follows:

Envelope Number Loos Sinks Baths

1 A D H

2 B E I

3 C F A

4 D G B

5 E H C

6 F I D

7 G A E

8 H B F

9 I C G

And remember, J goes into all envelopes marked ‘10’ and this will ensure

all teams finish at the same location.

7. Seal the envelopes, placing a rubber band around them

Bath Treasure Hunt - Introduction

• You are in 3 teams called : Loos, Sinks and Baths

• The aim of this hunt is to score more points than any other team.

• The hunt will last no more than 3 hours from the time we leave this location.

• Each Team will receive 10 sealed envelopes. These are numbered 1 through

10, and must be opened in order, and ONLY when instructed throughout the

hunt. DO NOT OPEN THEM ALL NOW!

• You have a number of challenges for which you can earn your team points as

follows:

o Within some envelopes are quizzes, riddles, general knowledge and

other mind boggling bits and pieces. You need to try to answer as

many of these as you can, writing your answer on the answer sheet

given to you.

o Within each envelope is a clue to a location in the City of Bath, and a

goal you must try to attain at that location - taking a photograph

using the camera.

o In the first envelope you will also find a scavenger list – during the

hunt, you must try to achieve as many of these as possible

• Each of these challenges brings points – and you know what points make!

• You MUST stay in your teams at all times

• There is a time limit

• You must be ready at the allotted time and allotted place at the end of the

hunt to prove what you have achieved (answer sheets, photos and scavenger

items)

• You will no doubt have the opportunity at a number of locations to enjoy a

very quick tipple!

• Work as a team, allocate roles and have fun!

• We’ll add up the scores when we reach the end!
