League season continuedon Saturday as it disposed ofMount Pleasant by 78 points.

Both teams had goneinto the game at Hy-Line

    Australia Oval undefeated,but it was a no-contest, withthe Hawks already in com-plete control by half-time onthe way to a 16.14 (110) to4.8 (32) victory.

Like they had in their pre-vious two games, the Hawksburst out of the blocks, rac-ing to a 39-point advantageat quarter-time as they led6.4 to 0.1 after kicking withthe breeze, before increasingtheir lead to 50 points at themain break.

It was another goodperformance by the boystoday we started well

again and were able to makeuse of the breeze in the firstquarter, Hawks coach JamieHogan said.

And we outscored themeach quarter after that, soI couldnt have asked formore from the boys.

Defensively the Hawksrestricted the Blues to just

two goals in each of the firstand second halves.

Harry Whittle, who washis sides best, Chris Gleesonand Ryan Semmel all kickedthree goals for the Hawks, who are now 4-0, with thepast three of those winsby margins of 78, 98 and125 points.

Its still early, but I hav-ent coached a team that has

gelled together this quickly,Hogan said. Its a good vibe at the

club, the players are allpushing themselves reallyhard and it was a good teameffort again.

Cameron Moore kickedtwo of Mount Pleasantsfour goals, with the bestfor the Blues Jason Shawand impressive youngsterJesse uohey.

Colbinabbin wonits third match in a row, emerging from what hadshaped as a danger gamewith a 58-point victory

    over Elmore.Te Grasshoppers broke

away to a 26-point lead atquarter-time after kickingwith the wind and held swayfor the rest of the match inwinning 16.12 (108) to 7.8(50) at Elmore.

We approached this as areal danger game knowing

Elmore has recruited welland is well-coached byAlex Gleeson, Colbinabbincoach Nick Knight said.

But we played to ourstructures well and got the

result we were after.Again, Knight led superblyfrom the front in beingnamed the Grasshoppersbest player for the thirdgame in a row.

Knight booted six goalsand leads the leaguegoalkicking with 21 afterfour rounds.

Ryan Hon added threegoals for the Grasshoppers, who also had Pat OBrien,Hugh Barlow and Sam Valeinfluential in what wasColbianbbins ninth-straightwin over Elmore.

    Te Bloods, who slipped

to 1-2 with the loss, werebest served by recruit NiallMcDonagh, ravis Mills andDanny Brewster.

Brewster and Phil Lobbeach kicked two goals.

Heathcote notched itsfirst win of the season as theSaints made more of theirscoring opportunities to

defeat Lockington-BamawmUnited by 40 points at home.

Te Saints led at everychange in winning 13.10 (88)to 6.12 (48) in what was justtheir fourth victory in theirpast 37 games.

Well take the four points, but it was a horrible game offooty to watch, Heathcotecoach Paul Kennedy said.

Te wind played havocand Lockington certainly putus under pressure for mostof the day.

It probably wasntuntil the 10-minute markof the last quarter that I feltfairly safe.

    Recruit Rikki Stephens

booted seven goals forthe Saints kicking morehimself than the Cats did.

Hes a very good playerhes a livewire, is good in theair and had enough oppor-tunities to probably kick 10,Kennedy said.

As well as Stephens, the Saints also had Daniel

Carroll and Marc Millardplay key roles off half-back.

While the young Catsbattled hard, their secondquarter was particularlycostly when they failed tocapitalise inside 50 whenthey kicked 0.7.

Despite having three morescoring shots at half-time,the Cats trailed by 17 points,6.2 to 2.9.

We didnt hit the score-board the way we wouldhave liked in the secondquarter we probablyshould have been in front athalf-time, Cats coach PeterGibbs said.

    But thats full credit to

Heathcote. We had the ballin our forward line for alot of that quarter, but theycontinued to put pressureon us.

Rhys Woodland kickedthree of the Cats six goals.Te best player for the Catswas David Ismail, who spentthe game in defence.

    Leitchville-Gunbower

won by more than 100 pointsfor the second week in a row.

Te Bombers inflictedanother heavy defeat onWhite Hills, thrashing theDemons 21.17 (143) to 5.5(35) at Leitchville.

Te Bombers half-timeadvantage was 27 points, be-fore the floodgates openedas they piled on 15 goals totwo after the main break.

Te Bombers had 12goalkickers, including five toMatt Perri, while Bart Walshand ruckman Cameron Rossled their best players.

For White Hills, theDemons are now 0-3 with anaverage losing margin of 96points in whats their worststart to a season since 2009.

Saturdays 108-pointdefeat was compoundedby an injury to ruckmanBen Greene, while HaydenWright was hamperedduring the game.

Weve got a young listand its probably going totake a bit more developmentthan we thought at the startof the year, Demons coachCarl Hardingham said.

    We had 12 new players

this year in the side onSaturday, so it will take abit of time to gel, but weveobviously got a lot of workto do.

Adam Healy was namedthe best for the Demons, with Hardingham sayinghe set a competitiveeffort example.

LOOSE BALL:Mount Pleasant's Jason Shaw, who was his side's best player, leads the race for the ball against Huntly. The in-form Hawks won by 78 points. Pictures: LUKE WEST
