CALIVIL Unitedswinning streakagainst Inglewoodin the Loddon

Valley Football League hasextended to 28 games butonly just after the Demonshung on to beat the Blues bytwo points on Saturday.

Te Demons survived asecond-half fightback from

Inglewood, clinging onto win 13.10 (88) to 12.14(86) at Just rees CentralVic Oval.

However, the defeat maycome at a heavy price for theDemons with a knee injuryto Anthony Dennis that hasthe first-year coach fearingthe worst that his seasoncould be over.

I blew my knee outIll go in on Monday andget some scans, but its notlooking good at this stage. Its obviously not what Iwanted, Dennis said.

Te Demons who hadthree less scoring shots -also lost Nathan Ryan witha foot injury in the firstquarter, while star recruitMitch Farmer left the fieldearly in the final term with aknee concern.

Luke Marchesi kicked fourgoals for the Demons andwas one of the best players, with another new playerin Matthew Magee also astrong performer for CalivilUnited, which had helda handy lead at half-timebefore the Blues fought back.

    Inglewood was really

good with their pressure, their full-ground press wasimpressive and we probablyplayed into their hands abit, but theres no doubtthey will surprise quite a fewteams this year, Dennis said.

Ben Knight, veteran GlenRichardson, Dennis andClinton Angove all chipped

in with two goals apiece forthe Demons.

Shane Harris kickedfour goals and was the bestplayer for the Blues, whostill havent defeated CalivilUnited since 2002.

Pyramid Hill notchedits first win of the seasonwith a comfortable 47-pointvictory over Newbridge atMitchell Park.

After a high turnover ofplayers, new coach BradFawcett said pre-season hewas unsure what to expectfrom his new-look side, buthe liked what he saw fromthe Bulldogs in their 14.12

    (96) to 6.13 (49) triumph.Te boys gelled togethera lot better this week and wecontrolled the game for mostof it, Fawcett said.

Around the footy we werereally good in getting ourhands on it and flicking itout to our runners, which isgoing to be our strength thisyear, so that was pleasing.

Nathan Fitzpatrick andDean Selkrig kicked threegoals each for the Bulldogs, whose best includedruckman rent Barri on hisbirthday, young wingmanSteven Gunther and onballer

    David Price.Newbridge coach Matt

Dillon was scathing of hissides performance.

I wish I had someanswers for today we werethe total opposite to whatwe were last week (win overMarong), Dillon said.

    We didnt handle the

ground well, were lazy, undisciplined and putridwith the footy. Its one of themost disappointed Ive beenafter a game we were justreally poor all day.

Te Maroons squanderedplenty of opportunities inthe first half when they had1.10 on the board and weretrailing by 33 points at themain break.

Tere were a couple ofeasy goals we should havekicked early, but we missedand we just kept making ithard for ourselves all day,Dillon said.

Our decison-making wasreally poor and to be honest,it was some of the dumbestfooty Ive seen.

Te Maroons causewasnt helped whenthey had Caleb Argusyellow-carded, whileNewbridge also gave away atleast four 50m penalties.

Tree of them resultedin goals, so that all falls intothe undisciplined stuff,Dillon said.

Sam Kennedy kickedthree of the Maroonssix goals, while ruckmanConnor oohey was namedtheir best player.

Mitiamo slammed onnine goals in the third quar-ter en route to an 81-pointwin over Bears Lagoon-Ser-pentine at Serpentine.

Te Superoos won 18.18(126) to 6.9 (45) and for thefirst time since 2011 havestarted the season 2-0.

Mitiamos half-time leadagainst the young Bearswas 26 points, before theSuperoos piled on 9.5 to 1.2in the third term.

Serp pressured us reallywell early, made us fumbleand we couldnt get anyclean ball into our forwardline, Superoos chairman of

selectors Rowan Warfe said.In the second half wewere able to get somecleaner touch, not over-useit through the middle andget it into our forward line alot quicker.

And our half-back linewas really good with theirrun and overlap.

New Superoos coachJustin Maddern booted eightgoals to now have 15 aftertwo rounds, while the bestfor the victors was DylanClohesy off half-back.

In the Bears first gameof the season after a round

one bye, Nick Arthur (twogoals) was named theirbest player, while veteranmidfielder Nathan McNallyalso battled hard.

Bridgewater held YCWto just seven scoring shots inits 88-point victory over theEagles at Backhaus Oval.

    Te Mean Machine pre-

vailed 17.13 (115) to 4.3 (27)to maintain their spot at thetop of the ladder a positionthey have held for the past34 rounds.

It was a good four-quar-ter performance. We startedthe game well, workedhard and got a good, evencontribution from everyone,Bridgewater coach MarcLindsay said.

For the second week ina row newly-appointedskipper Zeb Broadbentthrough the midfield was theMean Machines best, withDeon Jones and Ben Galea

(two goals) other dominantperformers, while AlexCollins was their leadinggoalkicker with four.
