asumi Construction Safety

Consultancy was established in

2005 with focus on providing

occupational health and safety services

through consultancy and mentorship to

small, micro and medium enterprises

(SMMEs), public sector and large

corporates locally and internationally. Our

mainstay is in designing and implementing

new, customized and efficient methods of

occupational health and safety in a cost

effective manner for our clients.

A level 3 BEE contributor, the company is

a member of Construction CETA and

National Association of Black Contractors

(NABCAT).

Chief Executive Officer

Also Chief Health & Safety

Consultant, Frank is one of the finest and renowned

experts in South Africa and abroad. He spent over 21

years in both construction and medical fields facilitating

and promoting health and safety.

He holds a Diploma in General nursing and a post basic

diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing Science. He has worked

for SANCB as a development officer charged with the

responsibility of developing and decentralizing eye care

service in rural South Africa and the surrounding metro

polite. He has participated in numerous research projects

including door step surgery at Wits University, Anterior

Angle Closure Glaucoma with University of Cape Town,

Blindness survey with University of Zululand, Opened

Angle Glaucoma University of Pretoria and SMEs

compliance with health and safety regulation in

Manchester (United Kingdom) and Macula degeneration

study in Venda.

A holder of B.Tech degree in Occupational Health and

Safety, he has had exposure at various companies such as

SAB, NISSAN, BMW and Goldfields Mines. In 2000, he

read for Safe handling of drugs with Trafford College in

Manchester. During this period he was employed in a

high risk unit by Meridian Health Care in Tameside

(United Kingdom).

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health

and Safety and a Master of Science degree in

Occupational Health and safety from Salford University

(United Kingdom). He studied NEBOSH National

Certificate in Construction Health and safety from Bolton

University (UK). He is a member of International Institute

of Risk and Safety Management IIRSM (UK), Institute of

Occupational Safety and Health IOSH (UK) and Institute of

Occupational Safety Management in South Africa.

Simi Nyathi

B .Admin (PM); B.Comm (Hons)

Finance & Administration

Manager

Simi is in charge of the finance & administration and

Human Resources Management in the business. She

has over 10 years experience spent in accounting

and human resources administration, three years of

which were spent in the United Kingdom.

She oversees the formulation of the company’s

finance policies, and supervises implementation of

finance strategy. She also oversees formulation and

implementation of the company’s human resource

strategy.

She holds a B.Admin degree and a B.Comm (Hons)

from the University of Fort Hare. She also holds

qualifications in accounting and credit management

Xolani Ndlovu

Business Development &

Marketing Manager

A student of business, Xolani has nearly four years

experience in marketing, business development and

trading financial instruments with a regional finance

house. He brings into the business a wealth of

contemporary business development skills and is

responsible for systems development and

implementation as well as marketing management,

the lifeblood of the business.

He has read for a B. Comm. (Hons), and is a member

of the Institute of Bankers. He also holds a

certificate in Health and Safety Management. He is

currently reading for a Masters in Business

Administration.

Makgitla Alpheus Kekana

Ali has spent more than 30 years of his life in occupational health and safety in the

construction industry. He has worked for companies like Murray & Roberts, A F Vieira,

Konsafe Measures, Cinderford Civil Contractors and Optimum Safety Consultants doing

logistics, safety and also supervision.

He is well experienced and trained in complying with the Occupational Health and Safety

Act & Construction Regulations Act. He has also done investigations in accidents/incident

cases and the recording of all statistics and reporting them to Workmen’s Compensation.

He has worked with both principal contractors and sub contactors, done site inductions

for construction workers, risk assessments, site inspections and audit reports as well as

managing asbestos products and their disposal.

Ali also has managerial experience, and some of his strengths include chairing and

conducting meetings; troubleshooting and problem solving; strong delegating abilities;

attending issues around discipline and grievance; training, development and coaching;

general office administration and has good verbal and written abilities.

Nomthandazo Gumbo

B Sc. In Environmental Health

Environmental Health Practitioner

Nomthandazo is Basumi’s Environmental Health Practitioner. She is responsible for doing

the Environmental impact assessments, Environmental audits and report compilation,

management of asbestos products and industrial waste.

She has more than four years experience in environmental health having worked for the

Ministry of Health and mining industry. She has conducted first aid workshops, employee

inductions and project monitoring and evaluation as well as incidents and accident

reporting, food hygiene and border entry screening of goods and people in transit and

disease outbreak investigation surveillance and control.

She holds a B. Sc. Degree in Environmental Health from Solusi University (Zimbabwe) and

also has a Certificate in HIV/AIDS Counseling and Care from UNISA.
