Finishing Wet block to measurements. Return shoulder sts to spare dpns and seam shoulders together using three-needle bind off method.

NECKBAND With smaller circular needle and RS facing, beg at the right side of the neck opening and pick up a multiple of 4 sts evenly around to the left front.

Ribbing setup row (WS): P3, (k2, p2), rep to last st, p1.

Cont in est rib patt for 2 rows more.

Next row (RS): BO all sts in rib.

BUTTON BAND With smaller circular needle and RS facing, start at the neck edge and pick up and knit 44 sts along left front edge for girls or start at the bottom CO edge and

pick up and knit 44 sts along right front edge for boys.

Ribbing setup row (WS): P3, *k2, p2; rep from * to last st, p1.

Work in est rib patt for 4 rows more.

Next row (RS): BO in rib.

BUTTONHOLE BAND With smaller circular needle and RS facing, start at the bottom CO edge and pick up and knit 44 sts along right front edge for girls or start at the neck edge and pick up and knit 44 sts along left front edge for boys.

Ribbing setup row (WS): P3, *k2, p2; rep from * to last st, p1.

Work in est rib patt for 1 row.

Buttonhole row (WS): P3, yo-twice, k2tog, {p2, k2, p2, yo-twice, k2tog} 4 times, p2, k2, p3. Next row (RS): Work even across row. Purl 1 st into each double yo, dropping 1 of the extra yo loops off of the needle each time.

Work 1 row even.

Next row (RS): BO in rib.

Sew sleeves into armholes, then sew sleeve and side seams using the mattress st. Weave in all ends on the WS. Sew buttons onto button band opposite buttonholes.

Ssk: Slip, slip, knit. Slip 2 sts knit-wise, one at a time. Insert left needle through front of sts from left to right and knit together.

K2tog: Knit 2 together. Insert needle through next 2 sts as if to knit. Knit together.

Work even: Work sts in pattern as they appear without increasing or

decreasing.

BO: Bind Off

M1R: Make 1 Right Increase. Lift bar between sts from back to front with the left needle and then knit through the front of it with the right needle.

M1L: Make 1 Left Increase. Lift bar between sts from front to back with the left needle and then knit through the back of it with the right needle.

Ssp: Slip, slip, purl. Slip 2 sts knit-wise, one at a time. Insert left needle through back of sts from left to right and purl together through the back loops.

P2tog: Purl 2 together. Insert needle through next 2 sts as if to purl. Purl together.
