Persuasive Business Writing논리와 설득력을 갖춘 영작 비법
This is a short course in persuasive business English writing. The main focus of this course is rhetoric, i.e.,
effective or persuasive use of language. Participants in this course will learn the basic components of all
persuasive writing (Aristotle’s ethos, pathos, and logos); they will also learn how better to avoid certain logical
fallacies in business writing, and will review some of the more common mistakes that native Korean-speakers
make when writing in English for business. By the end of the class, participants will be able to write a
persuasive paragraph, having moved through the process of conception, research, organizing, drafting,
review/revision, and finalizing. The course format will be diverse: lecture, discussion, partner/group work, and
a final writing task.
Learn the basic elements of rhetoric for business purposes.
Recognize fallacious (illogical) argumentation commonly used in business.
Recognize common mistakes in business prose (grammar, mechanics, diction, etc.).
