The first step in selling a hotel is to request a list of hotel properties for the desired location or specific hotel.
To ensure location accuracy, each hotel property is indexed in the Hotel Select database by reference points. A reference point is a city, airport, location, or other point of interest referenced by the hotel. One screen can display all Hotels.com properties and additional properties display later in the hotel list. Properties listed through Hotels.com can also be listed with their chain code in the hotel list, but the chances of both properties appearing in the same screen are unlikely. The system searches only those hotel properties requested, based on the specified options. All option identifiers followed by specific data require a dash as a separator between the code and the data. Although the dash is not mandatory for all of these options, the dash is used for consistency.
Option Description /AD- Used to display a hotel list using the hotel street
Address as a search parameter (e.g., /AD-1847 CHAPULTEPEC BLVD).
/AM- Used to retrieve a list of hotels based on property Amenities requested (e.g., HLATL/AM-BC-CB). To display the list of amenities, enter HG*AM
/C- Chain Code is used to limit a request to specific hotel chain. To request a hotel list using the Hotel Loyalty participant code (all hotel chains associated to the company), see HC-LOYALTY
/D Used to specify check-in and/or check-out Dates. When check-out date is not included in entry, Worldspan assumes one night. Maximum date range is 99 nights.
/DD- Used to specify the maximum Distance and/or Direction from the city, airport, or reference point to the hotel property. The system assumes a 40-mile radius from the reference point if no /DD- data is specified. Radius up to 75 miles can be requested. A range of distance can also be requested. Maximum of three numbers for distance and two letters for compass point direction.
/H- Hotel Property Name is used to request hotel by name as stored in hotel database. It is valid with HL, HA, and HN entries.
/MR-
Maximum Rate is used to list hotel properties within a specified rate range. This option is verified solely within the Worldspan database. It is not verified through the hotel associate link.

Option Description /NP- The hotel system requires a Number of Persons field,
which can be entered after the out date (/D-DDMM2) or in the /NP- option field /NP-2.
/PH- Used to display a hotel list using the hotel Phone number as a search parameter (e.g., HLATL/PH-7702223333).
/SC- Same Country is used to request only those hotels within the same country. This option is most helpful when requesting a hotel list in Europe.
/Z- Zip (Postal) Code is used to specify hotel properties within a certain zip (postal) code.
From this list, review some of the common options using the HELP HOPT page. Hotels.com properties display with the disclaimer NO RATES AVAILABLE when the rate range (/RR) indicator is specified in an HL entry.

The PNR history is updated in the /CX- field with the hotel cancellation number from participating hotels. The cancellation number is reflected in history with a CN identifier and an HX action code.

Cancellation Policy in Hotel Segment

If a hotel associate participates in the cancellation column in Hotel Source availability, Worldspan places the cancellation information in the /CXP- field of the booked hotel segment. The information prints on the itinerary/invoice. This field advises of the hotel cancellation policy, directly from the hotel associates system. When canceling a segment and penalties apply, “some” hotel associates send a warning message advising of the penalty. Be sure to read the responses. When a redisplay is made, the response is removed from the screen and the hotel segment is removed from the itinerary.

Once the segment is canceled and PNR ended (ET), a message is sent to the hotel associate to finalize the cancellation. If the PNR is ignored (I), the complete cancellation transaction is ignored. A cancellation number is received, but not processed or recorded in history. For further information on this field, refer to INFO H/CXP- Let’s review what we have covered in this lesson.
