� Since May 2007, when the Health Technologies resolution WHA60.29 was adopted, WHO has been working on its implementation in order to enhance availability and better use of health technologies which will contribute to the strengthening of health systems based on the 'primary healthcare reforms for universal coverage and better health service delivery'.

� The Baseline Country Survey on Medical Devices is designed to establish availability of policies, guidelines, standards and services for the assessment, management and regulation of health technology in Member States and Associate Members. Likewise, it is WHO's intention to determine the key areas to support the development of health technology programmes in regions and countries, as well as to share knowledge and information with Member States and Associate Members.
