The Stories of the Prophets arereal true stories and they havemany lessons in them.TheProphets and Messengers guidethe people and call them toworship Allaah alone. All theProphets and Messengers hadone Message and that is

“Laa ilaaha illallaah”.

So the first of them was Aadamand we are going to do

some interesting activities aboutAadam ?Are you ready.عليه السالم


Before Allaah created Aadam السالمعلیه . He had an interesting yet beneficialconversation with the beings that Allaah created with Light. Do you know whothey are? Read the following and write who said these words to who!1. “Verily I am going to create a Khaleefah on the earth”.

Allaah said to the Angels……………………………………….2. “Will you place therein those who will make mischief and shed blood?

while we glorify You with Your Praise and we do sanctify You”.The Angels said to Allaah………………………………………

5. “Glory be to You, we do not have any knowledge except what You havetaught us”.

Allaah said to Aadam السالمعلیه …………………………………………..7. “Did I not tell you that I know the unseen of the heavens and the earth

and I know what you reveal and what you conceal”.Allaah said to the Angels………………………………………

Allaah sent an Army of angels who expelled them to remote islands.

3. According to the Mufassireen (the scholars who explain the meaning of the

Qur’aan), what is meant by “Allaah taught the names of everything to Aadam

السالمعلیھ ”, Names of which things were taught to Aadam السالمعلیھ ?

Allaah taught him the names of all creations, their functions.

4. From what did Allaah create the First Man?

Soil gathered form all over the earth.

5. After Allaah created Aadam السالمعلیھ with His own hands Aadam السالمعلیھ

remained as an earthen body for forty years. When the angels passed by and

saw him they got frightened. But there was also another being in the company

of angels and he used to be the most frightened. He would pass by him and hit

Aadam السالمعلیھ and the body would make a sound of a pottery with a rattle.

Who was he?

Iblees or Shaitaan an evil Jinn made out of smokeless fire.

6. When Allaah breathed the soul into Aadam السالمعلیھ what is the first thing that

Aadam السالمعلیھ did?

He sneezed and said “Alhamdulillaah”.


7. How did Allaah reply to him?

Allaah replied “ Yarhamukallaah”.

8. It is mentioned in a hadeeth that when Allaah created Aadam السالملیھ , Allaah

stroked his back and all the souls that were due to be born in his progeny until

the Day of Judgment came out of his back. Between the eyes of every human

He made a shining light and put them before Aadam السالمعلیھ . Among them

Aadam السالمعلیھ saw a man whose shining light attracted him. Then he asked

Allaah, “O Lord! Who is he”, and “What is his life span”? What are the answers

he received?

He is a man who will come in the last of your (Aadam’s) progeny and who will

be called Daawood. His life span is 60 years.

9. So Aadam السالمعلیھ gave Dawood السالمعلیھ a number of years from his life

span. How many years was that?

40 years.

10.As mentioned above when Allaah took out the progeny of Aadam السالمعلیھ

from his back, He made them bear witness to something very important. What

was it?

They all testified that Allaah is their Lord.


That was very good

Now here is something for you to think and do.

State if the statements below areTrue or False.

Allaah created Aadam السالمعلیھ 60 cubits tall. True

When Allaah created Aadam السالمعلیھ He commanded all the Angels toprostrate to Aadam السالمعلیھ and all of them prostrated. True

Iblees the evil Jinn at that time was an obedient slave of Allaah and wasin the company of the Angels. True

But Iblees refused to obey Allaah when Allaah said to him to prostrate toAadam السالمعلیھ . True


Mashaa Allaah. Now let’s read another conversation that happened andtry if you can write who said this to who!

1. “What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you”.Allaah said to Iblees.

2. “I am better than him, You have created me from fire and You created himfrom clay”. Iblees said to Allaah.

3. “Then get down from here, it is not for you to be arrogant in here. Getdown! you are surely from amongst the disgraced”.Allaah said to Iblees.

4. “Give me respite until the Day they all shall be raised”.Iblees said to Allaah.

5. “You are of those granted respite”.Allaah said to Iblees.

6. “Because You have caused me to go astray, I will lie in wait for them onYour Straight Path”Iblees said to Allaah.

7. “Then I shall come upon them from in front of them and from behind them,and from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of themthankful”.Iblees said to Allaah.

8. “Get out from here disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them followedyou, I will certainly fill the Hell with you all”.Allaah said to Iblees.

So now you know the above conversation happened when Iblees our open enemydisobeyed Allaah due to arrogance. Allaah sent him out from the company of theAngels. But Iblees did not stop there! As he promised he wanted to misleadAadam السالمعلیه and his progeny. Let’s see what happens next!

11.When Aadam علیھ السالم died, ………Angels……… washed his body, shrouded it, dug agrave, offered prayers upon him and buried him.

Now it’s time again to say who said to who!1. “Your Lord has only forbidden you to approach this Tree lest you become

angels or immortal”.

… Iblees said to Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa ……(Soorah A’raaf 7:20)……………2. “Truly I am a sincere advisor to you”.

… Iblees said to Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa. ……(Soorah A’raaf 7:21)……………3. “Were it not for the Children of Israaeel, meats would not become rotten: and

were it not for Hawwa, woman would not have cheated their husbands”

… Messenger of Allaah sallaahu alaihiwasallam. ……(Hadeeth). ……………4. “Did I not forbid you from that Tree, and say to you that Shaitaan was an open

enemy to you”.

…Allaah said to Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa. ………(Soorah A’raaf 7:22) ……5. “Our Lord! We have wronged our souls and if you do not forgive us and have

mercy upon us, we shall certainly be amongst the losers”.

…Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa said to Allaah. ……(Soorah A’raaf 7:23) ………..6. “Descend , you are enemies to each other and there is for you in the earth an

abode and provision until an appointed time”.

…Allaah said to Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa and Iblees and the snakeaccording to some scholars. …(Soorah A’raaf 7:24)…………..

Here is a challenge for those of you who are ready for it! Find out all the Soorahs andthe Aayahs from the Qur’aan for the above and write them next to your answer.

So that was the Story of Aadam السالمعلیه .Ibn Katheer

raheemahullaah mentions some more interesting facts in his

book “Stories of the Prophets”.

It is said that there was also a snake that came along with

Iblees and made Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa disobey Allaah

and Allaah sent down the snake also to the earth. Thus, the

Messenger of Allaah وسلمعلیههللاصلى ordered to kill the snakes

and he said: “We have not compromised with them since we had

started our fight with them”.

The first food Aadam السالمعلیه ate on the earth was bread

which he made from sowing and harvesting the 7 grains of wheat

Jibreel السالمعلیه brought from the same forbidden tree that

Aadam السالمعلیه ate from. And the first clothes he wore was a

Jubbah (a long shirt) woven from the sheep’s wool.

Aadam السالمعلیه and Hawwa had many children. And the

first son of Aadam السالمعلیه killed the other son and that was the

first murder or killing on this earth.

The Following Aayahs are from soorah Hijr and it tells us about the Creation ofAadam السالمعلیه and the arrogance of Iblees.

And we have created mankind out of sounding clay from a moulded mud

So the angels prostrated themselves altogether.

Except Iblees who refused to be among those who prostrated.


He (Allaah) said : “ O Iblis!, Why was it that you were not among those whoprostrated?’

He (Iblees) replied: “ I am not going to prostrate before a human whom You havecreated from sounding clay of moulded mud”.

He (Allaah) said: “ Get you out from here, as you are accursed”.

and curse will be upon you until the Day of Judgment.

He (Iblees) said: “ My Lord!, grant me respite then until the Day they shall be raised”.

Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved,

"Till the Day of the time appointed.
