Remember as a school we are here to teach. We would like all students to find something that would be appropriate if they
were going to be at a semi formal or formal func5on for a future career.
For gentlemen a semi-‐formal dance, it's perfectly acceptable to wear a plain dress shirt with a 5e.
A pair of trousers or slacks will go along nicely with a dress shirt and 5e. Jeans are NOT allowed, even if they are your nicest pair.
Underwear showing is NOT allowed. That would not be appropriate for a job, it isn’t appropriate here. For Prom, suits and tuxedos are appropriate.
Wear the right shoes. For semi-‐formal a2re, wear lace-‐up shoes, dressy loafers, or Oxfords.
Sneakers are NOT allowed.
Put some effort into it. This isn’t dressing for success. This is NOT allowed.

School Dance Policy • School Dance Policies: Students may aAend our dances if they have prior approval through the AcDviDes Office. Guests have to be signed up by the Wednesday prior to the dance by 2:30 so the office has Dme to verify that the guest is in good standing with other high schools. It is the responsibility of the BHS Student to arrive with, stay with and leave with his or her guest. It is the responsibility of the BHS Student to tell the guest about our dress code for dances. Hours of the Dances: Homecoming and ValenDne’s Day Dances run from 8 pm-‐11 pm. Prom runs from 8pm – 12 am.
Dress Code For Male Students
• Dress Guidelines for Male Students: Prom is formal dress; Homecoming and ValenDne’s Day Dances are Semi-‐Formal. Semi-‐formal means a buAon up, long sleeved shirt with De, dress pants and dress shoes. Formal means a tuxedo or dress pants, buAon-‐up shirt with De and jacket. No tennis shoes/sneakers of any color or kind are allowed at either kind of dance. Jeans are not semi-‐formal and not allowed. Only dress pants are allowed at dances.
Dress Code For Female Students • Dress Guidelines for Female Students: Prom is formal dress; Homecoming and ValenDne’s Day Dances are Semi-‐Formal. Semi-‐formal usually means a dress or skirt that comes to knee length or tea length (middle of the calf.) It can also mean a dressy pants suit. NOT form fi2ng! Formal can be a dress of any length (tea, knee, etc.) but most formal dresses are gowns that reach to the floor. It can also mean a formal pants suit. Dress shoes are expected; NO tennis shoes/sneakers are permiAed into the dance.
Dress Code For Females Con5nued • Excessive cleavage is unsightly and will not be allowed. If your body type creates a visual line of cleavage, please consider another dress. The length of the dress/skirt must be longer than your fingerDps when standing up. The back of the dress must be at or above you natural waist line; the natural waist line circles your body at the level of your belly buAon. The sides of your dress must cover the natural front of your body. The natural front of your body is determined by creaDng a line from the middle of the inside of the armpit down; fabric that is solid (not lace or sheer) must cover the areas between the lea and right side of the natural front.
