Barry O’Farrell’s

“I’m happy to resign if I don’t

deliver on these promises.”

Barry O’Farrell, 16 March, 2011

Barry O’Farrell has broken an extraordinary 200 promises in his first year as Premier. We have seen the O’Farrell Government send electricity prices soaring and increase public transport fares by almost double the rate of inflation, instead of delivering on key election commitments to keep the cost of living down.

NsW has lost tens of thousands of jobs and the O’Farrell Government is sending the state into rolling Budget deficits for the first time in more than 15 years, instead of keeping our economy strong.

The O’Farrell Government has also broken its promise to duplicate the Pacific Highway by 2016 in partnership with the Commonwealth and cut much needed police from the areas dealing with the worst spate of drive by shootings in a decade.

Mr O’Farrell’s promise of a scandal free government has been farcical, with the Parliamentary secretary for Police, steve Cansdell forced to resign in disgrace and the Minister for Gaming and racing, George souris embroiled in the sordid star casino affair.

The Premier’s refusal to sack education Minister adrian Piccoli and environment Minister robyn Parker, despite their appalling dereliction of ministerial duty, only makes a mockery of his promise of ‘higher standards’.

The people of NsW were promised more and deserve better.

I will continue to record each and every broken promise the O’Farrell Government makes to ensure the Premier is held to account.
