Lagoon

The Barena Agriturismo lies in the heart of the northern lagoon, a fascinating and little known place. The residence borders on a mirror of water where only mooring posts break the horizon between sky and sea. In this peaceful corner, where silence is interrupted only by birdsong, you will be welcomed by the owners, lovely hosts, and by two painters with whom you’ll share an artistic experience of colour and nature.

Peter Delahaye has experience as a watercolour tutor holding courses in Spain and the UK. Venetian now by adoption, he works in artist studios in

Venice and Bangkok and has held many international exhibitions.

Claudio Trevisan holds watercolour courses in different places and over the years has deepened his experience in

this field experimenting both traditional and innovative techniques. He has exhibited in different shows in and

around Venice.

The cost includes a six night stay in the Barena Agriturismo, breakfast

and dinner, picnic lunch or restaurant during excursions in the lagoon; excursions by boat to painting locations we’ll stop at; bicycles

available.

Not included is drinks and aperitifs, airport or train transfers, and boat and car hire and whatever is not

explicitly stated above.

A week immersed in nature

Are you looking for a place far away from the noise, bustle and stress of everyday life? Do you want to find a location where you’ll share a desire to paint together with friends under the watchful guide of two artists? Do you seek to go somewhere different where you’ll get in touch with nature again?

The northern lagoon of Venice offers a special environment, made up of canals and flatlands called the “barena” covered in sea-lavenders where flamingos, herons and other sea birds nest. Here human presence is subtle: fishing nets, isolated fishermen’s huts, small boats that barely float in the shallow water, moored at just the right spot with fishing rods cast. Torcello, with its cathedral tower cutting the horizon, emerges from the water to remind us that, in this remote corner of the lagoon, the first Venetian civilization was constructed.

Do you accept real beginners?

Yes, we can integrate all levels of artists, and adapt to add more demonstrations in the first studio morning and during the week.

How much progress will I make?

The five-day itinerary takes us to a variety of landscapes carefully chosen to match skills. Everyone last year surprised themselves at how much progress they made – and how many pictures will end up framed!

How much is the painting package?

The accommodation package cost will be €400 per person on double occupancy, while single occupancy will be €610 per person. This pricing is valid until 30/07/16. A minimum of five artists must sign up per week for the workshop. Costs of teaching and artist expenses will be shared among the participants.
