Coronavirus (COVID-19) Preventative Measures in Place- March 11th The St. Margaret’s Parish as part of the Archdiocese of Toronto continues to work with health officials to monitor the local situation regarding active cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19). At this time, Cardinal Collins has asked all parishes to implement the following measures:

At the Sign of Peace, refrain from shaking hands – a simple bow, nod or “Peace be with you” to your neighbour is appropriate.

For parishes offering communion under both species, forgo the distribution of the Precious Blood from the chalice for the congregation at this time.

Parishes should ensure that those distributing communion wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after the distribution of communion.

Please also continue to practice healthy hygiene – wash your hands with soap or use hand sanitizer regularly, remain home if you are sick, sneeze/cough into your sleeve and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Let us continue to care for ourselves and one another as we pray for all those impacted worldwide by COVID-19. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

MARCH 15, 2020

Bible Study The Acts of the Apostles is the story of how a few Christians empowered by the Holy Spirit were chosen to bring Christ & the Good News to the ends of the earth.

Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom is a Bible study that traces how the gospel witness spread outward in waves from Jerusalem and reveals how the seeds of Church structure and authority took root. It shows how the joys and struggles of the early Christians in living the life of Christ apply to us today. St Margaret’s Parish will begin a twenty-week Bible study Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom on Monday April 20 at 1pm in the Canadian Martyrs’ Room Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. For more information or to register please contact the parish office 705-526-6313 ext 1 or Patti at 705-528-3847 [email protected]. Each person is asked to purchase a study guide for this course which is theirs keep – Guides are $35.

P.S. If you want to attend daily mass before any or all bible study sessions you are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch with you.

Some Ideas for Lent Holy Hour Every Friday from 11am to 12 noon

Stations of the Cross All Fridays in Lent at 7 pm

Lenten Day of Grace & Reconciliation Thursday April 2nd, 2020 Here at St. Margaret’s Mass at 12 noon Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will follow Mass. A priest(s) will be available to hear individual confessions during this time of Exposition until Benediction @ 6pm ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

During this holy season of Lent, let us remember the ancient penitential practices of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. The corporal works of mercy are: + feed the hungry + clothe the naked + visit the sick + give drink to the thirsty + shelter the homeless + visit the imprisoned + bury the dead The spiritual works of mercy are: + counsel the doubtful + admonish the sinner + forgive injuries + instruct the ignorant + comfort the sorrowful + bear wrongs patiently + pray for the living and dead

Giving alms, praying, and the virtues of longsuffering, forgiveness and compassion lie at the heart of these practices. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It’s who we are!

Catholic agencies have been serving those among us who are poor, sick and marginalized since the founding of our diocese 178 years ago – it’s who we are as Catholics in the Archdiocese of Toronto! We continue that legacy through ShareLife, which funds over 40 agencies that provide unconditional care, regardless of religious affiliation.

March 29 is ShareLife Sunday. Please give generously.
