History

Barangay Calibangbangan is located in the western part of Linapacan town proper. It is a

home to Tagbanua Tribe. The name of this barangay is derived from “alibangbang” (butterfly)

and with the passage of time it became Calibangbangan.

Like the other barangays of Linapacan, Barangay Calibangbangan has flourishing culture

and tradition. Respect for elders, “kumbida” (engagement), and pamahiin (superstitious beliefs)

are still observed nowadays.

Fishing and fish culture are the main sources of livelihood of the residents of this

barangay.
