Our world famous Hallowe’en celebrations, the largest in Ireland, will be even bigger and better in 2013 as Derry~Londonderry celebrates its magnificent City of Culture year in style. Between October 26th and November 3rd a mesmerising week-long programme of activities features stacks of spooky fun for all the family, culminating in the colourful carnival parade and spectacular fireworks that light up the Foyle on October 31st.

There will be extra special events to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Derry’s historic walls too, such as the Awakening of the City Walls. On October 29th and 30th you can explore Derry’s historic walls to search for all kinds of hidden surprises, frights and delights prepared by the city’s artists.

There’s so much to enjoy, like spine-tingling storytelling sessions at the Foyle Valley Railway and Workhouse Museums between October 28th and 30th and a chance to meet some flying citizens of the night on an eerie Bat Walk at Learmount Forest Park on October 29th.

One of the week’s highlights will be the return of the Shapeshifters Catwalk to the Craft Village on October 26th. Make sure you design (and model) your spookiest costume to have a chance to join the carnival parade on Hallowe’en night itself. New to the festival is the sensational Shapeshifters Ball, where you can dance the night away at the atmospheric Guildhall on October 31st.

There’s music aplenty with gig rigs and discos, creepy tours of the Ghostly Galleons tall ship, Hallowe’en frolics at St Columb’s Hall, Hallowe’en walking tours and special food and drink markets too. It’s the perfect time to take the family away for a mid-term break and experience Derry’s incredible City of Culture celebrations too.So why not join us for some very special spooktacular activities?
