Tennis in Bangladesh Bangladesh Tennis Federation is situated in National Tennis Complex,

Ramna Green, Dhaka with 3.4 Acre area of land. It has a two steroid pavilion building with office rooms, conference room, players changing rooms etc. It also has a general gallery which may accommodate about 1000 spectators at a time. It has 8 tennis courts, one practice wall and a gymnasium.

Tennis in Bangladesh BTF Executive Committee consist of 27 members including a President

who is nominated by Ministry of Youth & Sports. Now the President of Bangladesh Tennis Federation is Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam, MP, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We also has 3 members Advisory pannel.

BTF has 8 coaches who are evolve in regular training programme at the National Tennis Centre. We also have a number of tennis coaches who are working in different countries including Sri Lanka, China etc. We also have 2 ITF Level-2 certified tennis coach one of them in Bangladesh and other one is working in Canada.

Growth of Tennis in Bangladesh The growth of specific sports discipline is depends on various issues.

Like infrastructure, number of participants, quality of players, local and international tournaments, sponsorship, level of coaching, living of coaches, facilities etc.


The number of participation in tennis is increasing day by day through JTI Programme. Our thanks to Mr. Suresh Menon, ITF Development Officer – Asia for his continuous support and help to run the JTI Programme in Bangladesh. We also organize coaches education programme. This year we have organize a ITF Pre-Level-1 Coaches workshop.

Growth of Tennis in Bangladesh This year we already have organized 3 prize money tournaments and we also

have 2 more prize money tournaments which will be held on 23-30 October and in Mid December 2016. Each of the prize money tournament provide about 2,000 US Dollar cash prize money We also organized a number of Junior Age group tournaments.

Growth of Tennis in Bangladesh The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of Bangladesh has taken a big

project named “Root Level Talent Hunting Programme” and it includes 31 different sports discipline through National Sports Council. The Total budget is 18 Million Dollar which is the top most training budget in sports in Bangladesh history ever.


Bangladesh Tennis Federation is included in this project. We have received about 41,000 US Dollar to run the project. We have chalked out 28 different venues to run the programme. Each venue 5 days programmes. We targeted school going children from different district aged between 8-12 years old. We already have finished 13 sport where about 1,000 kids have

Growth of Tennis in Bangladesh started to play tennis who are fresh beginners. While we were planning to start

the programme we were lucky that Mr. Suresh Menon was in Bangladesh on that time. We hope by the end of November 2016 we may finish first phase of the programme and more 1,000 fresh students will introduce tennis by this programme.


Although the goal of the project was to hunt most talented 10 boys and 10 girls for residential training camp for one month but we have introduce tennis about 2,000 fresh kids who did not play tennis before. Most of them did not even touched a tennis racket before.
