FUNDAMENTALS OF EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT BUILDING DESIGN EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS his course is aimed at professional engineers T and post graduate students who are interested to work in earthquake engineering. Bachelors degree in civil engineering is a prerequisite for this training course. Seats are limited (maximum 25). BENEFITS OF THE COURSE his short course aims to introduce the basic T fundamentals of earthquake engineering resistant design as provided in existing (1993) and proposed (2010) provisions in the Bangladesh National Building Code. The participants will be exposed to new features present in the new seismic design provisions (2010) of the updated Building Code. The participants will also have software related training with respect to application of new code. BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka-1000 COURSE INFORMATION he course is designed as combination of lectures T and hands-on exercises. Computer facilities will be provided to each participant and software application for earthquake resistant design will be demonstrated. A compact three day program has been designed including the weekend for convenience of practicing engineers to participate. Course Duration : 3 days Class Duration : 3 * 8 = 24 hours Day : Thurs-Fri-Sat Class Time : 8:00 am – 6:00 pm with break and tea-breaks Date : 26-28 Feb 2015 Course fee : Tk. 8000/= (includes handouts, lunch and refreshments).
