Welcome to the 7th year of LiFT!

With outdoor gigs, girls and lads only workshops, a tattoo photography exhibition, recording studio sessions, film screenings, evening showcases and a ‘dedicated to dance’ day, we know it’s going to be a good one for Ballymun.

Don’t forget to say it to your younger brother and sisters to flick to the back to check out the Little LiFT programme we’ve put together for younger festival goers (10 – 12 yrs).

In the end it all comes down to a brilliant team of people who have worked hard over the past few months to put a cracking programme together.

Enjoy every minute of it!

Have you...

Filled in a festival registration form?

Got your festival wristband?

Sussed out what events/workshops you want to go to?

If you can say ‘yeh’ to all these, then you’re good to go.

all you need now are your festival wellies! only kidding…

You must fill in a registration form. You will then be given a festival wristband. Put it on and keep it on until LiFT ends.

Registration forms are available at axis, The Reco, Poppintree Youth Project and the Ballymun Women’s Resource Centre.

Places are limited and they fill up quickly so REGISTER ASAP!!

Wednesday 28th

A meeting of minds will take place @ 4pm outside on the Ballymun Plaza. You’ll find some of this year’s artists, facilitators and festival team hanging out on Sofa’s on the Plaza. Pop over and say hello, ask any questions you have about the festival line up or just join in the chats!

Come join us for the OFFICIAL FESTIVAL LAUNCH @ 5pm in axis’ theatre. We’re delighted to have John Lyons TD with us to say a few words and the evening will also feature a special Q&A session with some of the coolest artists and creative heads on the scene at the moment: Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous (aka Elayne Harrington), Philip Mc Mahon of THISISPoPBABY and Kelly Hickey.

We’ll kick off the evening with Re-Re-Raw, a recycled and reused fashion show. The Festival Youth Committee will be there to fill you in on some festival highlights. We’ll also use this opportunity to launch a number of exhibitions that have been developed as part of LiFT 2012

Tattoo: What do you ThINK?The launch of this photography exhibition will take place @ 12.30pm in Trinity Comprehensive Secondary School. Ballymun Youthreach will also be popping by to perform

Festival youth Committee (FyC)The FYC is growing in strength from year to year. 2012 sees us formalising things a bit more with 15 young people signing up to a year long festival training programme/experience. Some of these young people were invited to take part in a consultation process for yam.ie, a new interactive map website containing listings of current youth arts events, venues, groups and workshops for young people (13 – 25 years). The FYC have also programmed girls & lads only workshops to facilitate greater engagement of young people. We also have young artists being mentored across various art forms marked M
