The Debra Charity and finding
a cure for EB
Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a very rare and awful
genetic condition in which the skin and internal body
linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing
painful, open wounds. There is no cure and this must rank
among the most terrible conditions a person can suffer.
The Debra Charity provides vital care for sufferers and
sponsor ground breaking research that is helping to
ease suffering and will one day find a cure.
Like many others, I was so moved by the strength of those
who live with this condition that I decided to launch a
fundraising campaign to raise as much as I could for the
charity.
The first stage of was to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks
Challenge with a group of stalwart friends last June,
three of whom are here tonight, DCI Peter Digby, Major
David Stanbridge and S/Sgt Didier renard. This raised
over £5,500. The second phase is to at least match this
tonight at the Courage & benevolence fundraising ball.
The encouragement I have received from friends and the
inspiration I have drawn from those passionate people
who are staging this event for me tonight is truly
humbling and my heartfelt thanks goes out to them and
to you for attending this evening.

Not since the glory days of the ‘frothy, bubbly caba-
ret’ called Summer Time Frolics when the Café de paris
opened on 28th May 1924, has London seen anything to
compare with the wonderful Broadway Babies. Their
brilliance and joyous vitality is a testament to their
producer and dance choreographer, the sensational
Mr David Adams.
The Cufflinks
The cufflinks will be a revelation to those who have
long despaired of finding such qualities in the libretto
of a modern musical performance.
The Cufflinks have been touring successfully around
Hertfordshire and North London for over 10 years
before arriving in the West End. Their powerful and
passionate renderings of the popular jazz standards
from the late 1920s through to the present day
provide the perfect backdrop for every occasion, at
garden parties, cocktail receptions and anniversaries.

and Supporters
The Charleston Charlie’s
After making a huge splash at the Savoy and in the
nightclubs of London’s West End in the late 1920s
with their crazy moves and dance routine’s, critics said
the handsome Charleston Charlie’s could never main-
tain their mad-cat energy. They proved them all wrong
by adding a new level of sophistication to their usual
concoction of frivolity preforming a recent rendering
for one of their fans, HRH The Prince of Wales no
less.
This evening would not have been possible to stage
without the patronage and support of several friends
of the benevolence Ball. The organisers would espe-
cially like to thank the following people and firms for
their generosity:
Mr Mark Thundercliffe—HSBC
Ms Jurga Zilinskiene—Today Translations Ltd
Mr Stuart Cloke—The benevolent Autocrats
DCI Peter Digby—City Police
