3rd Place - 2017 SHRM Student Case Competition (East) Four BW SHRM members and BW SHMR’s advisor, Mary Pisnar, travelled to Philadelphia, PA, in April to compete in the East SHRM Student Case Competition. This was BW SHRM’s first time competing at the National SHRM competition and the team placed 3rd out of 22 Division I teams,

including many teams from larger schools. The 3rd place team consisted of Christina Koleno, Macy Szucs, Gwyn Dubel, and Rachel Murphy.

Cleveland Federal Reserve Tour

L-R: Cleveland SHRM member, Shobhit Chandak, Federal Reserve HR Professional, Cleveland SHRM member, Michael Marcucci, AnsHuman Dash, and Gwyn Dubel

Members of BW SHRM and Cleveland State SHRM had the opportunity to go on a tour of the Cleveland Federal Reserve and to speak with multiple leaders in the organization. HR leaders at the Federal Reserve spoke with the students about recruitment and marketing trends in HR fields, as well as how national affairs and legislation impact business initiatives and the employees who run it. The tour provided SHRM members a look around the buildings, their robust history, and breathtaking architecture. There was even an opportunity to see the money museum, exhibiting the history of American currency and the impressive vault door with over 13 feet of solid steel. The tour was an invaluable opportunity that allowed the students in attendance to develop more professional contacts with both the Cleveland Federal Reserve and fellow future professionals from Cleveland State’s SHRM chapter.

Volunteering Around Cleveland

At the Bard Early College LinkedIn Workshop and Panel, SHRM members aided the Early College students with their resumes and LinkedIn

profiles, provided professional headshots, and even gave students advice pertaining to college and career.

Three BW SHRM members volunteered at the Northern Ohio HR Conference (NOHRC) where they had the opportunity to

help run the event, listen to speakers, and meet HR professionals from the area.
