Characteristics
• The Bald Eagle is a bird. And it is
warm-blooded. Also, it is a
vertebrate.
• They have hollow bones that are
light.
• The head and tail feathers are
white and the rest is brown.
• The bald eagle’s soles are
covered by all those spiny
spicules.
Habitat
• They live only in North
America.
• They do not live in Hawaii.
• It can live in the Artic.
• People are destroying the
habitat by cutting down
trees where eagles live to
build homes.
Food
• It flies and goes toward the thing
it wants, and drops to a shallow
glide and gets the animal.
• The bald eagle eats fish,rabbits,
and small mice.
• Some eaglets eat carrion. Small
birds and rodents, large birds and
large fish.
• They eat everything and snakes
too!
Fun Facts
• They hunt sea otters and listen for
the noises they make.
• Bald eagles can carry things that
weigh between three and seven
pounds.
• The word “Bald” really means
“shining white.”
• Bald eagles can spot a fish in the
water a mile away.
• The country Germany, has used
the bald eagle for its symbol for
3,000 years!!!
