Market Report up until October 2012Exchange Rates

• Against the $, Sterling opened the month at 1.567 and ended at 1.59 as of 10th September.• Against the €, Sterling opened the month at 1.272 and ended at 1.26 as of 10th September.

Crude Oil and Fuel

Crude Oil prices continue to rise given Middle East tensions. Brent Crude Oil was up 8% on ICE London and Light Sweet Crude Oil rose 8% on NYMEX in the U.S. Fuel prices increased given the above. Petrol prices strengthened 12% on NYMEX and 9% in the E.U. Diesel prices rose 10% in the US and in the E.U.

Fats and Oil

Soya Bean Oil – Rotterdam prices strengthened 4% given a 10m tonne cut to forecasts for the U.S. ’12/’13 crop. U.S. soya bean production is expected to be the lowest in 5 years.

Rapeseed & Sunflower Oil – Rotterdam prices rose 4%. World sunflower seed output is expected to fall 7% to 36.5m tonnes in 2012/13.

Palm Oil – Rotterdam prices remained steady but there was a 3% rise in Malaysia.

Palm Kernel Oil – Rotterdam prices rose 2%.

Coconut Oil – Prices have weakened by 2%.

Olive Oil – Spanish lampante virgin olive oil futures rose 22% following drought, as output is forecast to decline 38% to 1.07m tonnes in 2012/’13.

Wheat

Milling Wheat – Futures rose 4% on LIFFE Paris, as global Wheat production is expected to reach 662.8m tonnes this year – down 5% from last season.

Maize – Futures rose 2% on CBOT as U.S. production is expected to decline 13% on last season. Extreme heat and dryness in the U.S. Corn Belt has significantly downgraded crop quality and yield.

Feed Wheat – Prices rose by 8% on LIFFE London.

Dairy

Milk – E.U. production declined seasonally in August and Fresh Milk spot prices rose 11%. U.K. farm-gate prices were unchanged, as major processors cancelled their proposed price cuts under pressure from U.K farmers. With lower milk supplies now available, prices firmed in several dairy product markets.

Butter – E.U. prices rose 10% and show no sign of easing. Butter Private Storage Aid (PSA) stocks were up 26.2% on last year in August. The 2012 scheme has now closed.

Whey Powder – Prices increased in the Netherlands in the E.U. by 10% while SMP rose in by an average 15% all due to uncertainty over future supply availability.

Whole Milk Powder – E.U. prices rose 11% on average.

Egg – Wholesale prices were 8% down in London, but Dutch product prices rose 5%. Liquid egg products were also up 4% on average.

Dried Fruit

Turkish Sultanas prices fell 3% and are expected to ease further over the next few months. Greek currants remain expensive and prices are unlikely to fall as there is a shortage of old crop carry over.
