Bakhmut, First Baptist church

Bakhmut’s First Baptist Church was organized in 1915. Many people came to know Jesus as theirpersonal Lord and Savior during these 100+ years. Five daughter churches were opened duringthe time after the fall of communism. Ivan Kobzar was the pastor here for 50 years (1967-2017).Yevgeniy Skumatov is the new pastor here.

There are many important areas of ministry right now: children’s ministry, camp ministry, youthministry, music and choir, bread ministry (providing free bread to people who come on Sunday),free soup kitchen several times a week, feeding homeless people on the street.

The church also provides accommodations for many people moving through the confrontationline due to its close location.

This year a new church was started at Paraskoveevka village with 40 people attending the Sun-day worship meetings. In every daughter church the number of people attending increased sev-eral times as a result of God working through dedicated ministers and the social ministry of thechurch, which provides humanitarian aid to needy people in the area.

The church needs prayer support for the Lord to continue bless our ministry in this time of warand to provide what is needed for further ministry.
