he company has around ,!!! to :,!!! retailers and wholesalers in different geographical

ocations. /he company has a strong supply chain for the deli&ery of its products to the

distributors$ retailers$ and wholesalers throughout the country.

Bakers land is using the local carriage transportations such as trucks and trailers etc. for the

deli&ery of the products. /his way of deli&ery is at low cost and beneficial for the company for

mely dispatches.

7ood e#ationships.

Bakers land has good relationship with their retailers$ and wholesalers for their brand

oyalty. 9ue to this they ha&e a large chain of their distribution channels and it can help to e2pand

heir market.

&rofessiona# and Ski##ed Manaement.

/he management in the MA foods are skilled and e2perienced. /he manager of the MA

oods is the one who was appointed in the start of the company in !"" and he is leading the way

since then all the important decisions are made by him in the company

Lo &rice &roduct.

*ne of their strength is that their products are a&ailable in the low price and in the good

3uality. /heir basic concept is that to pro&ide the good 3uality product to the customer in the low

ang so that most of the people in Pakistan who are willing to buy low price biscuits can get it from

MA Foods.

Lare *etork.

/hey ha&e the large network working in the Pakistan in the shape to suppliers and other

hey pro&ide biscuit all around the Pakistan through then

(8ce##ent Competiti9e Ski##s.

+f we talk about their competiti&e skills in the Pakistan then they are little behind that but if

we talk about the #ahiwal then they are way ahead in this market in the #ahiwal area. *thers are

producing the biscuits locally and not go outside the #ahiwal so in the area MA foods is one of the

argest in #ahiwal and becoming threats for other all around the Pakistan.

Consumer Market.

/hey are working hard to get on top in Pakistan in this market and to achie&e this MA

oods has found the way to reach the black bo2 of the consumers. Pakistani people want to eat

biscuits when the take tea so MA foods is producing those product which suit the Pakistani people

ke the 4loyal treat5 4peanut passion5 etc. there are those bastes which are easily eaten during tea

breaks.

(8perienced Sa#es and Marketin ,eam.

/hey ha&e a well%managed and good marketing team working in the department of sales

hey analysis the new possibilities and the consumer beha&iors to 'udge their products.

Se#ection &rocess.

/he sales and marketing department is the one of the best in the factory so they are

selected through the special process. /he manager and the < manager both take the inter&iew

and some time they ha&e to gi&e the presentation before inter&iews.

&ortfo#io.

MA foods is producing the different product in the biscuits market. /hey are not only

argeting the children but also they are targeting the aged persons and the mid aged too.

2.2.2 /eaknesses

/here are many weaknesses in the company which they ha&e to o&ercome if they want to

gain more market in the industry. Lack of focus upon maintaining the declining sales of e2isting

products?brands. /he management style that has been adopted by the company is

centrali6ation5. 9egree of formali6ation chain of command is high. /he manager in the head office

has the final say on the e&ery decision making in the company. Because it0s a 1o&t. sector like

company where top management decisions are enforced upon middle and lower le&el

management.

Centra#i4ed 5ecision Makin

At Bakers Land$ there is a lack of future direction and strategy de&elopment. /he

employees perform day to day acti&ities@ but the outcome of their tasks is not monitored for

continual impro&ement of organi6ation. Moreo&er the management does not in&ol&e employees in

he decision making process for promoting e2isting and potential products.

Lack of Inno9ation in the Orani4ation

At maturity le&el of PL$ companies ha&e to inno&ate their product and ser&ices in order to

sustain them. At Bakers Land the management and the staff do not focus upon it

Breakae of Biscuits /hi#e 5e#i9erin.

/hey deli&er the biscuits on the local transport so the product are not safely go to the

desired place and their packaging is not also safe for deli&ering. #ometimes biscuits get damaged

during deli&ery to retailers. +t affects the 3uality of the product while it reaches to the customers.

C#aim for &roducts

MA foods does not ha&e the proper system for claiming the damaged biscuits so

sometimes when the products get broken then the company is not responsible for that and will not

eplace if it0s not the company0s agreement.

Lack of Schemes

#ome retailers and distributors ha&e this issue when they are dealing with the company the

products which they are going to take from the company$ if some other distributors takes the big

ot then others ha&e to wait for the new lot.

5issatisfaction de to

O9er#oaded /ith /ork

+f the order is big then the company take lot of work form the employees in the product

department and it is also some employees to work in the holidays too.

Lo Sa#aries.

Although they gi&e slayers according to the Pakistani law but it too low for e&eryone. +f

someone id working for one year they are not get raise too easily.

/orkin Conditions.

/heir production area is not one of the best the machinery is not too ad&ance. /here are

:!! worker are working at the same time and they ha&e to work consistently in the time period.

/he condition of the working area is populated with works.

2.2.3 Opportunities

!ariety of &roduct Line and ane

ompany can pro&ide the wide range of product line. /here is limited range of the products

n biscuits@ they can e2pand their product line with the new additions of different types of snacks.

*e &romotion Opportunities

ompany can adopt new marketing and promotion acti&ities these days$ because there are

more new opportunities for the promotion of the brand in Pakistan like school e&ents$ amadan

ransmissions etc.

More Customers Can )ttain

ompany can attain more customers because of limited biscuit brand in Pakistan$ and also

hey can gain more market share by promoting them as a national company of the Pakistan.

Some Other Opportunities )re B#o

An e2ternal situation$ which an organi6ation can benefit from$ is called *pportunity.

(nter *e Markets.

/he new market is waiting for them in the Pakistan. /hey can go to those cities which are

not big and are easily approached.

&romotion.

/hey don0t ha&e much inno&ations in the company so that they can attain new concepts

and new product to increase their target market. /hat can create brand loyalty among them and

customers. By gi&ing them more benefits like discount and gi&e some surprise gifts for kids in the

biscuits packets.

2.2. ,hreats

ncreasin Loca# Bakery &roducts

/here is continuous increase in local bakery products in Pakistan. /hat is a ma'or threat for

he company and can affect its sales.

&o#itica# Inf#uence

+n Pakistan political instability is affecting all the business day by day. +t0s become a big

hreat for all the local producers in Pakistan. 9ue to this unions come in e2istence and employees

who are laying merit can0t achie&e that place which he deser&es.

Competitor;s Market Share )ppreciation

+ncreasing market share of competitors$ aggressi&e ad&ertisements of competitors

ncreased the competition is also a big threat for the company. 9ue to lack of marketing and

promotion acti&ities they can0t gain the market share and cannot recogni6e their brand to those

customers who are still unaware of Bakers land.

2.3 Marketin Stratey

ompany has no proper marketing department for promotions. Promotions are done

hrough sole distribution channels in Pakistan on large scale. 9ue to this brand is not as much

popular in the market. #ales representati&e are also taking great part in promotions or in others

words we can say in company0s marketing campaigns. ompany doesn0t ha&e proper marketing

department and marketing campaigns for their products ad&ertisement.

10

Page 11: Baker's land report

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/bakers-land-report 11/24

2.3.1 &romotion Stratey

Print media are their ma'or promotion strategy. /hey are in&esting money on t%shirts caps

key chains these all are distributed among the distributer0s sales representati&es and other team

of company who are doing promotion campaigns. *n t%shirts brand logo distributers wear during

here working hours.

2.3.2 &ricin Stratey

ompany pricing strategy is cost based pricing (ompetiti&e pricing) .Because the

company is not &ery well known in the market so firstly 'ust meet with the cost and want to

penetrate in the market.

2.3.3 &roduct Stratey

ompany is offering different &ariety of products with great 3uality. Products of biscuits are

n different range$ pack$ color$ taste$ weight$ and price. -afers are company0s main product which

s of different fla&ors0 like strawberry$ chocolate and orange. All of the products which are gi&en

abo&e are a&ailable in the market in different si6es on different prices.

2.3. ,aret Market

Bakers land (P&t) Ltd. company segregate its market according to its product packaging

such as tikky pack is for =%", years of age group or snack pack is for "=%, years of age group$

and geographical segment they are pro&iding family packs in big towns like in Lahore city. +n

#indh sales are more than other pro&inces of Pakistan. /heir target market is mostly urban area

as compared to rural area.

2. Competiti9e Stratey:

+n competiti&e strategy they are focusing on acti&ities of their competitors to differentiate

rom them. ompany is using price list collection to differentiate its product from other competitor

n terms of price. /hen prices of the products decided according to market price analysis.

2..1 Marketin Stratey

#o that people can easily buy their products. +t is also call the push strategy. MA Foods is

ollowing the 4product strategy5 the product strategy is that they are producing the product and

make a&ailable all around the country

+ asked my < manager that tell me how you gi&e ad for 'obs and whereE <e told me that

hey use basic means for that like newspapers and some time on the cable. +n the MA foods there

decide that how they can recruit for the post if the post is the low le&el then it is fill &ery 3uickly and

sometimes they don0t e&en ha&e to gi&e the ad in the newspapers. But when sometime it is for the

managerial post then they ha&e to select the best possible around and they ha&e to gi&e ad in the

big newspapers like 4Dung5 and 4e2press5.

+n MA foods there are two types of employees and they are hired on the different

dates and ways

") Managerial staff ) Low le&el staff

nter&iew is conducted by the < manager and the manager. -hen it comes to hire the

managerial staff both < manager and the manager ask the 3uestions to the inter&iewee and the

selection is done by the manager$ manager makes the final call. +f the < Manager selects one

person then the manager can re'ect that person and hire the person which he think is the best for

he organi6ation but it doesn0t happen often. *n the other side in the factory if they need some low

e&el employees for the production areas then on < manager inter&iew the person and select

hem. For the low le&el 'obs MA foods doesn0t ask for the high education they ask the e2perience

and for the managerial staff MA foods needs the education and it at least graduation.

3." &ro6#ems I <aced In the M) <oods

/he manager was not corporati&e with internees. /here was no cafK we had to go outside the

actory for lunch. *n the first "! days of the month the super&isor was busy he didn0t gi&e us time

n this period.

3. Ho (8perience Impact My Career

beha&ior and attitude towards management$ rules and regulations towards organi6ations. +t0s a

practical work and e2perience for internees$ internship is basically an initial step for employees

and students to know how much we are responsible and capable to perform our tasks and fulfill

our commitment with an organi6ation.

Conc#usion

+ tried to e&aluate the internal and e2ternal factors of MA foods P&t Limited #ahiwal. And +

obser&ed that the Bakers land ha&e make good market share in a &ery short span as a starting

company in #ahiwal. /hey ha&e pro&ided a better employment opportunity for the local labor of

#ahiwal. /hey are ha&ing good machinery and latest e3uipment to pro&ide the best 3uality to their

customers and with the passage of time they will perform better than this time. /hey are focusing

on their better management system and ha&ing good plans for the future. But they ha&e to be &ery

clear about their strategies and goals so that they can stay in the market for longer time with the

upcoming new competitors.

ecommendations

/hey should increase the biscuits products

/hey need to focus on their ad&ertisements

/hey should think about their long term planning

mployee relations with management

/hey should decentrali6e the decision making.

/hey should ha&e inno&ati&e ideas for ad&ertisement and promotional acti&ities.
