Tips for your Bake SaleNow that youve decided to hold a Bake Sale, here are a few tips to make sureyou are ready for your sale, raise lots of money for Diverse Abilities Plus andhave great fun at the same time!

Type of Bake SaleHere are two ideas of ways in which you could hold your Bake Sale: A coffee morning: you provide the tea and cakeand your invitees give a donation. A traditional bake sale: where you havenumerous cakes & bakes on display for people to buy.But be as creative as you like; have fun with you Bake Sale!

When & WhereFirstly, identify a good time and place to hold your Sale; itcould be at school, work, home, through a club, withfriends, family or work colleagues - you decide!Elevenses, after lunch or tea time are popular times toenjoy a cake.

Choosing Your CakesYou need to think about what cakes to sell at your BakeSale - small individual cakes sell better on a stall, especiallyat schools; tray bakes are particularly easy to make andserve; and larger cakes are best served sliced with a cuppafor a coffee morning.

Handy HelpersIf you are holding a larger Bake Sale, why not get yourfriends, colleagues and family involved? This will helpspread the tasks of baking, telling people about yourevent and selling cakes on the day.

Shout About ItTo get as many people to support your Bake Sale as possibleyou need to promote your event. We have provided blankposters and handy invites in your Bake Sale pack to helpwith this which you can photocopy and use as much as you like. Hold your Bake Sale in a busy place and decorate your stand to encourage more customers over. Please let Diverse Abilities Plus know details of your Bake Sale in advance so that we can list it on our website and promote your event.

After Your Bake SaleAfter you have held your Bake Sale dont forget to donatethe funds raised to Diverse Abilities Plus: please send a cheque payable to Diverse Abilities Plusto:Beccy Payne, Diverse Abilities Plus, Unit C, AcornBusiness Park, Ling Road, Poole, Dorset BH12 4NZPlease also send Diverse Abilities Plus a photo or two of your Bake Sale in action too, either to the above address or by emailing [email protected]

Finally, celebrate and be proud! By raising money youhave done an amazing thing for our charity - THANK YOU!

Super Fundraising IdeasBake OffHold a Pay to Enter competition where the entrants compete to bake the most delicious, most unusual or prettiest cake with a prize for the winner.

Cake decorating competitionMake some plain cupcakes or cookies, buy some icing andsprinkles, and charge people to decorate their own cupcake, take a photo of each one and award a prize for the best cakeat the end of the day. You could specify your own fun or

silly theme if you want too.

MastercakeInvite your friends, family or colleagues to competeagainst each other to bake the best cake from a set list ofingredients.

Guess the number of cookies or sweets in a jarSimply fill a big jar with sweets, cookies or another tastytreat and charge a small fee to have a guess at how manyare inside, with the closest answer winning the jar and itsyummy contents.

Make sure you have a secure system, such as a lockablebox, for all the donations you raise. Its also best to havetwo people count the money at the end.

It can be helpful to have a list of ingredients in the cakes to hand in case people have allergies or taste preferences, and labels for cakes that contain nuts.

Be sure to keep your bake sale germ-free by washing yourhands regularly and wiping surfaces.

Dont forget to ask permission to use the site where youplan to hold your cake sale.

If you are collecting money in a public space then its agood idea to check with your local authority to see if youwill need a licence.
