Hello Parents and Carers,
Apologies for not introducing myself to you earlier. My name is Warwick Price and I have
been appointed to the position of Acting Principal for Term 1 and am certainly enjoying
everything that is Baimbridge College. The school has a vibrant culture that is
immediately visible from the time you enter the school on either Campus and the
adjoining Skills Centre is an amazing facility for the entire Hamilton and District
Community with its to passionate staff and amazing resources.
The students at Baimbridge have been incredibly welcoming and are extremely
supportive of each other which is fantastic. We have very dedicated and student focussed
staff who are working very hard to ensure clear and productive pathways for our young
people.
The school is moving forward with its building project and has recently moved to the next
phase of the planning and development and a preparation meeting will be held soon to
take the development and design even further.
I have worked as a Principal for the last 10 years and have spent time at P-12 Colleges,
Primaries and Secondary Schools so believe I have a very strong working knowledge of
where our students have come from, where they are going and what they need.
As a school we are refocussing on Engagement, Multiple pathways and Differentiation of
teaching and assessment to tailor even more personalised programs for our individual,
caring and creative students.
Please feel free to drop in to see me at any time. I am always keen to meet new people.
If I am available, just drop in or ring to make an appointment.
School is about people and with an ongoing connectedness between student, family and
the school we can continue to ensure our students have every opportunity to shine.

Do you have a shade gazebo that we could borrow for our swimming sports
on the 14th (program at end of newsletter)? If you do can you please contact
Mrs Jen McArthur on Compass or call her on 55 722 788.
Welcome to Mr Warwick Price, our Acting Principal for Term 1

Italian Language instruction Unfortunately, despite our best efforts (and believe me when I say we have been doing everything we can), we have been unable to secure our Italian Language Teachers to start until Term 2. These teachers are amazing and are both native to Italy so will be fantastic acquisitions to our staff and will provide exciting lessons for our students. This has created a wonderful opportunity to continue our focus on Math and English at Year 7 and 8 and there are some authentic learning tasks soon to be available for these students to further grow in these areas. Miss Munro’s Maths Message!
Did you know… that in a room of 23 people there is a 50% chance of
two people having the same Birthday!? This is often known as the birthday paradox, and in fact it only
takes a room of 75 people to have a greater than 99% chance of two people having the same birthday!
Welcome to 2018 and a new school year. In the Maths Faculty we are excited to be back and, as you
might have heard, things are looking a little bit different. The team this year includes Miss Olivia O’Brien
(Head of Mathematics Faculty), Mrs Lisa Kyle, Mrs Chelsea Carter, Mr Paul Sutherland, Miss
Rachel Munro and Miss Peta Taylor. Each newsletter we will bring you some fun facts, a few bits that
have been happening in our classrooms, and our goal getters for the fortnight.
So, what’s planned for 2018 Maths?! This year the Year 7’s, as well as
the 9/10’s, will be using a program called Maths Pathway. Some may
be familiar with it, and we can’t wait to get the most out of it and see
some amazing growth with our students. We plan to run a full range
of Rich, Hands on, learning tasks, in combination with one-on-one
lessons and feedback, mini lessons using different materials, as well
as the online component of the program. There will be plenty more infor-
mation to come and planning is underway for an Info night so that we can
show you how the program works and why we are so excited about it. It
will also be a great chance to answer any questions that you might have
about how the program works.
The year 8’s this year are working on a specially developed program with
Mrs Lisa Kyle and Mr Paul Sutherland. It will be an exciting year, with lots of rich learning to build
problem solving, reasoning and mathematical strategy. We can’t wait to bring you more of what the
students have been working on.
Watch this space and keep up to date with all our exciting maths news. This is one newsletter item NOT
TO MISS.
Miss Rachel Munro
Our new sunshades
have been installed
over the playground
on the West Campus
between B block and
the Library. With
this heat it’s nice for
our kids to be able to
stay out of the sun.
The 2018 Presentation Ball set have begun their dance
practice in readiness for this year’s ball. We have changed
the date and moved venues in 2018, we hope to see many of
our community members present at the HEC centre on
Saturday 21st April, keep an eye out in the newsletter for
notification of ticket sales.
Term 1 and Term 4 are compulsory hat wearing terms, to
avoid a lunchtime detention remember to pack your hat.
Our Year 7 cohort have
embarked on the Year 7
Norval Camp in Halls Gap on
Wednesday morning. Seen
off by Mr Price, the students
will spend three days
exploring the Grampians and
participating in all manner of
team building exercises.
We often say that the
students leave still identifying
with their Primary School
and come back Baimbridge
students.
If you are able to spare some time to help out in the canteen it is always very much appreciated. We understand
that most families are very busy, however, when the workload is shared it is always so much easier for everyone.
