BADALING GREAT WALL

Badaling is the most representative and magnificent section of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty. It has been open to the public the longest (since 1957). It is easily accessible and has easy walking conditions.

LAKESIDE GREAT WALL

The Lakeside Great Wall is an uncrowded section where you can experience different activities like taking a boat on the lake to appreciate the Great Wall on the surrounding mountains. You can hike around the lake and across the dam instead of climbing the mountains.

SIMATAI GREAT WALL

The Simatai section of the Great Wall is one of the few sections to retain the original appearance of the Great Wall. It’s very varied in makeup. Simatai has many characteristics of other Great Wall sections, and some unique features of its own. It is often described with the following four words: dense, diverse, artful, and peculiar. Book tickets at least one day in advance!

SUMMER PALACE

The Summer Palace is said to be the best preserved imperial garden in the world, and the largest of its kind still in existence in China. It was initially built in 1750 by Emperor Qianglong and covers an area of 70000m2 and holds over 3000 houses. In 1860 and 1900 it was destroyed by invaders and in 1912 it was rebuilt by the Government of Qing Dynasty.

OLD SUMMER PALACE

The old Summer Palace  consists of three parts - Yuanmingyuan, Wanchunyuan and Changchunyuan. These three gardens are often referred to as one common name: Yuanmingyuan. They are made up of exquisitely constructed halls, pavilions, chambers, kiosks, earth and rock hills, rivers and ponds, and exotic flowers and grasses from different parts of the country.

TEMPLE OF HEAVEN

The Temple of Heaven is considered the most holy of Beijing's imperial temples. It has been described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design”. It was built in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1420) by the emperor Zhu Di in the royal garden. Once a year, at winter solstice, the emperors came here to worship Heaven and to solemnly pray for a good harvest.

CONFUCIUS TEMPLE

YONGHEGONG LAMA TEMPLE

Yonghe Lamasery  is considered as  the largest and most perfectly preserved lamasery in present day China.Built initially in 1694 during the Qing Dynasty, this building was the residence of Emperor Yongzheng when he was just a prince. However, in 1744 the Qing Dynasty formally changed the status of the dwelling to that of a lamasery.

FRAGRANT HILLS PARK

The Fragrant Hills Park  is  very large, made up of hills and forest covering 400 acres (162 hectares). Both its natural sceneries and cultural relics are abundant. Xianglu Peak, literally Incense Burner Peak, 1,830 feet (558 meters) high, is its highest peak.

JINGSHAN PARK

Jingshan Park, situated behind the Forbidden City, is not only an oasis of flowers and trees, it also boasts a breathtaking view of the Palace from the top of one of Beijing's very few hills.

NANLUOGUXIANG HUTONG

The South Gong and Drum Lane is an old hutong in Beijing, renowned for its long history, Hutong culture, specialty stores, and distinctive foods. It is 768 meters long and 8 meters wide. There are eight parallel hutongs on each side of the old alley.

HOUHAI

Houhai, which literally means "Back Sea", is a large artificial lake in northern downtown Beijing. Together with Qianhai (Front Sea) and Xihai (West Sea), it comprises Shichahai. People can go boating on the lake in summer and skiing in winter. The area is dotted with bars, cafes, teahouses and restaurants, and is quite popular among foreign visitors and local young people.

QIANMEN STREET

Qianmen Street runs south from Tiananmen Square, just along the Beijing central axis. It is one of the last remnants of the business centers of the old Beijing. It has been transformed into a modern commercial pedestrian street, the second walking street after Wangfujing Street in the downtown shopping district Beijing.

CCTV TOWER

The construction of the new CCTV tower was launched in 2005 and finished on  September 2, 2008. This untraditional building was designed by a famous architect from Netherlands. A radical shape, with a loop base of six horizontal and vertical sections, and two buildings joined together in the open air, like two twisted 'Z's. It  is nicknamed by local people, Dakucha (big shorts).

NATIONAL MUSEUM

The main emphasis of the museum is to teach about China's imperial history, WWII, the Communist victory, and China's modern history. It is also one of China's grandest antiquities museums. The Aviation Museum  is Asia's largest museum displaying aircraft relics. You can also see original research materials and participate in many aviation activities.
