PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEMy name is Dr. Rafael Gaeta and it is my privilege and honor to be the Principal of Panorama High School. As the Principal at Panorama, my main goal is to ensure that every student is provided with a quality education in a safe and supportive learning environment. I am committed to helping all students achieve their very best. Every student is valued and worthy of our best effort. My personal mission is to inspire a passion for learning and my vision is to culminate students who are self-directed, insightful, articulate, culturally and technologically savvy and critical participants in our society. Most of my teaching and administrative years has been at both the middle school and high school level thus providing me a deeper understanding of the complexities of working with secondary level students. This is an important and critical time of transition – moving from the high school experience and preparing for their future in college or the work force and beyond. I strongly believe that high school needs to be a positive experience, as these few short years will have a lasting impression on our students’ academic and personal development and growth. My door is open and I invite you to come in and be a partner as we continue to become the pride of the San Fernando Valley. Please stop by my office and say “hello”. You may reach me at (818) 909-4505 or via email at [email protected]. I am looking forward to meeting each one of you.

ACADEMICS ADVANCED PLACEMENT ANDHONORSCOURSES

Panorama High School adopted Linked Learning, an approach that makes learning relevant by integrating rigorous academics that meet college-ready standards with sequenced, high-quality career-technical education, work-based learning, and supports to help students stay on track. This opportunity exposes students to college and career opportunities by creating a personally, relevant, engaging experience. Panorama’s career pathways offer grade-level Project Based Learning (PBL) units and certification through Linked Learning, which monitors the quality and fidelity of the implementation of the approach. The support of professionals and additional public and private organizations will also connect curriculum to real-world applications. Partnerships with Kaiser Permanente, Panorama City; Providence Holy Cross, Dignity Health Northridge Hospital; and Apple will provide support and collaboration with the staff to create interdisciplinary project-based units that link content standards and skills to the overall themes of the various programs. The four key components of Linked Learning: rigorous academics, career-technical education, work-based learning, and comprehensive support services will be integrated into the pathways. Rigorous academics prepare students to take college-level courses and be college-ready, and strengthen articulation between high school and post-secondary programs. Technical training is incorporated throughout the classes, integrated with academic content standards, and aligned with career opportunities in a variety of high-need, high-skill occupations. Work-based learning ranges from career awareness and exploration into post-secondary training and education, providing opportunities to apply core academic content and technical training. Comprehensive support services that are embedded as central components of a program of study, address unique needs of individual students, and include academic and socioemotional supports ensure equity of access, opportunity, and success for all Panorama students.
