US Railroads of World War II During the Second World War, United States railroads carried over 80% of everything that moved. The other almost 20% were by bus, trolley, and roller skates. Cars and bicycles were limited by inability to purchase rubber for tires. Gasoline was rationed. With such a huge task, railroads were called the “Lifeline of the Nation”. But that is only part of the story...The “lifeline” even gets longer! Dr. Rudy Daniels Self-Defense—Don’t Be A Victim This session focuses on providing senior citizens protection strategies to guard against violent acts toward the most vulner-able population in the country. It provides easy to learn strategies to help seniors pro-tect themselves from assaults and escape from attackers. Learn about the many options availa-ble and how to select the right home care agency and caregiver whenever that need might arise. Kristen Hammerstrom Sensory Gardening Many gardeners choose plants for their visu-al appeal, but with a little extra thought -all the senses are able to be aroused in the landscape. Sensory gardens provide oppor-tunities for seeing, smelling, hearing, touch-ing and tasting. This identity theft session will inform and em-power you to safeguard your identity. As a par-ticipant, you’ll explore real-life scenarios in or-der to identify actions that help or hinder the safety of personal data. The session is designed to help you: understand how identity theft can occur; learn tips to help protect yourself; and know what steps to take if identity theft hap-pens to you. Pam Bales, Thrivent. Vertical Garden– Just Hanging Around Gardening is fun, but when living in a city, hav-ing enough space to grow what you wish can be an issue. If you are not able to grow out due to lack of space, growing up will enable you to grow more fruits, vegetables and flowers in less space.
