Babín is a small village in the north of Slovakia. It lies under the mountains of Oravska Magura mountain range so there are lots of beautiful forests ,hills,fields and natural lakes

Timeline of Babín

1552- first people, Jakub and his brother , arrived in the territory of Babín

1564 – the first writen mention about Babín.

1665 –people import wooden church from Lokca.

1715 – burnt half village

1716 –„ frozen“ years in Babín,people died of great hunger,

they didn‘ t grow enough grains

1739-1831- great plague in Babín ,82 people died , the

1831 – Babiners built the Monument of the plague

1906 –84 people left the village to find better life in the

USA

1918 – After the end of the I. WW , the end of the Austro-

Hungarian monarchy , Babín in the Czechslovak Republic

1930 –Babíners broke out the old wooden church and started to built the new stone church.1933 – stone church finished1923 – Babín burnt. 48 people lost their homes

23 April 1934 – it was the worst day in the history of the village .The building of on an old wooden school caught fire.The fire destroyed 104 houses with farms and it killed 124 pigs 158 chickens and 17 bee hives ,on amazingly only 4 people died.But almost everyone lost their home

1944 – a few Babiners died in the second world war at Krosne, Serbia..
