The Institute for Parallel Processing (IPP),

• GRID Workshop in Bulgaria: “EU Grid projects and Bulgarian Participation”, October 30-31, 2004, Borovetc. Purpose:

To disseminate the ideas and to spread technical information for the EU projects EGEE and SEE-GRID

To present Bulgarian Grid-related projects

To discuss the activities of the Bulgarian Grid Consortium

• After start of EGEE II added new cluster with 80 CPUs and low-latency Myrinet interconnect for 24 CPUs – unique resource for special MPI jobs

Experience with our JRUs

• During the SEE-GRID project, we had one third party.

• In SEE-GRID 2 we have 2 JRUs, and in EGEE II we have 2 JRUs.

• The good collaboration achieved during EGEE with– Institute of Mechanics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, – Faculty of Physics and Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia

University

lead to the acceptance of these institutions as JRUs in EGEE II.

Our experience is that it is very important for the leading partners to have established

good collaboration on formal and informal basis with the JRUs previously to the start of

the respective project in the areas of interest.

We selected the partners for their unique expertise in certain fields. Too thin distribution

of effort among many JRUs must be avoided.
