Better Reflexes?

Who has better reflexes males or females?

The purpose of this project is to determine if male or female have better reflexes. This is important if coaches are picking players for a team, they would know to pick, a male or female.

Purpose

We hypothesize that males have better reflexes than females. We believe this because more males play sports and have better opportunities for using their reflexes.

Chair, meter stick, and test subjects

Materials

Manipulated – male and female

Responding – response of catch

Constant – meter stick , chair , person who holds meter stick , method of measuring response time

Variables

1. Get a meter stick.2. One person from the group stands on a chair with a

meter stick. 3. Another person from the group holds their hand in

front of the meter stick.4. The person holding the meter stick drops at a random

time.5. The test subject grabs as soon as possible.6. Record the response of the catch in cm.7. Repeat steps 1-7 with each test subject.8. Find the average male response catch.9. Find the average female response catch.10. Repeat steps 1-9 for four more trials.

Conclusion

Our hypothesis was correct. Males have better reflexes than females. The males average

response was 12.96 cm and females average response was 30.90 cm. The thing we would change is to use adult males and females to

see if we will get the same results.
