SUMMARY
LESSON 22 & 23: BAPTISM FOR SALVATION
Mark 16:15-16Baptise(d
)…
2 Who?
3 By whom?
4 When?
5 Where?
6 How?
7 Why?
1What is
it?
From Greek word “Baptizo”
meaning to immerse or dip
…to be born again (John 3:1-5), death, burial &
resurrection (Rom 6:1-11)Person who is a sinner able to hear, respond,
discern between right & wrong & believes in the
Gospel of Christ (Act 2:36-38)
Therefore cannot be a newly born child, a child
has no sin! (Eze 18:1-5,20 ) & cannot hear
A sinner is baptised by a person authorised or sent
by Jesus Christ(Mat 28:18-20)
Therefore it’s a Christian or Disciple of Christ (Acts 8:26-40, 9:17-20, 1 Cor
1:13-17)When a sinner has accepted the Gospel, believed & confessed Jesus as Christ &
Lord(Acts 2:36-38)
In “plenty water” (John 3:23) so that
a person can be immersed in water
Baptism of fire & Holy Spirit (Mat 3:11) or any other baptism except of water does not lead or is not for
Salvation ( See Acts 10:44-48) & only Jesus/God can baptise with
Fire (Rev 21:6-8) & Holy Spirit (Act 2:1-4)
Immersing the whole body in
water once A body is born & buried once (Rom 6:1-6, John 3:1-5).The
statement in Mat 28:18 does not infer 3 times since the word
“name” used infers unity/oneness in Godhead
For forgiveness of sins (Act 2:38) & to enter Kingdom of God [Church &
Heaven] (John 3:5)
All 7 points must be fulfilled…Since there is
ONE baptism for Salvation(Eph 4:4)
Any deviation nullifies such baptism for
salvation. See Acts 19:1-5
John’s baptism was for “Repentance” (John 3:11) not for forgiveness of Sins
(Acts 2:38, 1 Pet 3:18-21) & was not in the name of Jesus Christ. So apostle Paul had to baptise them with the
correct baptism
BAPTISM THAT LEADS TO SALVATION…
So a person who is not baptised or was baptised in an incorrect manner is NOT
SAVEDRom 10:9 does not give the complete plan of Salvation since the
theme in Chp 10 is on FAITH particular on
Jesus Christ, faith that will lead to salvation of
the soul
The letter was written to Romans who were already SAVED or Baptised (Paul
reminds them of this in Rom 6:1-5). In Chp 10, Paul is
reaffirming them of their faith & duty to preach. So
confession IS PART of the plan of salvation its NOT the Plan! If confession is enough
for salvation, Paul & Peter should have not done… Acts
19:1-5 , 10:44-48
