choreographing the aWHIP program20 passionate years in the entertainment industry, Steve Beatty recognized a demand for an affordable and comprehensive theatre insurance program

actONE was launched in 1998 and is now cultureONE’s premiere theatre, dance and opera insurance program

cultureONE proudly insures more theatre and performing arts companies than any other Canadian brokerage firm

We believe artists shouldn’t struggle to access affordable health insurance programs

Two years ago, we began to investigate program potential and were grateful for the encouragement of industry directors including the unwavering support of Elizabeth Chitty, formerly of CADA.

Our Market Research Survey—conducted through the ASOs—supported our theory that an Arts Worker Health Insurance Program was necessary and sought after.

Steve joined forces with Michael Kelly—an employee benefits specialist for over 25 years and Vice President with MHC Employee Benefits.

Using market research and input from an enthusiastic team, Michael skillfully created the definitive plan and set out to secure a solid underwriter.

Over the years, we had explored options but this was the first time cultureONE secured an interested, well-rated carrier for an Arts Worker Program.

Page 5: aWHIP - Arts Workers Health Insurance Program

Working with Greenshield Canada and Lloyds of London, Michael and Steve conceptualized and designed the aWHIP program.

Thousands of dollars have been invested in developing an online enrolment solution so members may easily and conveniently apply.

aWHIP receives a standing ovation when compared with other insurance plans!

aWHIP’s options far exceed those of its two lesser rivals: Manulife Flex Care and Arts & Entertainment (A&E) with these key features:

1.Available on an individual basis or with additional cost savings as a group

2.Most importantly … NO MEDICAL EVIDENCE REQUIRED!!

We’re receiving positive reviews …

As a co-founder of CADA in the 80’s, I joined forces with our group with a desire to negotiate insurance programs. I was thrilled to join the aWHIP program in March through CADA. Having an educated opinion about it, I can really appreciate what aWHIP has to offer.

Particularly appealing is the wide variety of eligible health practitioners and choice of plans—giving me the ability to mix and match options to suit my needs. Offering “couple rates” is an amazing benefit

Thank you for providing aWHIP. I will continue to spread the word about your great program. We must keep the “buzz” going.

Insurance provides protection against loss arising out of an event. This protection exists when an individual or business pays an insurance premium.

The act, system, or business of providing financial protection for property, life, health, etc. against specified contingencies, such as death, loss, or damage and involves paying a regular premium in return for a policy guaranteeing such protection.

What is RISK MANAGEMENT?
