Lourdes Mass
A Pilgrim Mass has been held in school, in preparation for this year's Diocesan Pil-grimage to Lourdes. Year 10 students are given the chance each May to travel to Lourdes and work as carers assisting sick and disabled pilgrims. At the same time the Massabielle group takes adult pilgrims from the Keighley area. Both groups met to begin their preparations by praying together in the school chapel. The evening began with a candlelit procession into the chapel. The nightly Torch-light Procession is a key feature of the Lourdes pilgrimage and the main square is filled with people each holding a candle while The Rosary is recited. Fr John O’Keeffe, a regular Lourdes pilgrim himself, celebrated Mass during which he blessed the hands of the students and adults who would be tending the sick over the Spring Bank holiday.

The students did a wide range of activities and even played nutritional Bingo! They all enjoyed the session very much and they were rewarded a certificate for all their hard work. They were able to taste healthy fruits throughout the session and to admire some quirky animals made out of fruit and vegetables.
