AW19 Tokyo Calling
Our AW19 collection buzzes back to bustling, boom-town Tokyo of the ‘80s and a scintillating,
super-synthesized fluoro-washed scene of hi--tech innovation and expeditious evolution.
This is a sharply focused, colourfully kinetic collection that encapsulates Japan’s compelling
capital city at its most potent and portentous.
Stinging cityscape accents of neon pink, lime green and turquoise are set off by softer,
derivative base colours of burgundy, deep green, East Sea blue and concrete grey.
Punctuating circuit board and origami prints introduce 18th-century woodblock-era Japan
to its modern, pointedly graphic and Walkman-wed latter-day metropolitan successor,
vivificating shirts, pocket squares, ties and cashmere silk scarves.
Dialed-down bouclé degrade knitwear adds teasing texture and reassuring warmth, which is
further accentuated with a vortex weave wool bomber, padded Nehru jackets, honeycomb
knits and super-soft suede shirt jackets.
Tailoring features a new, wide-lapelled and of-the-era double-breasted jacket and fully cut,
tapered-at-the-ankle trousers. Outerwear introduces an equally epochal oversize belted
Raglan-sleeve coat. Jumbo birdseye and dogtooth and big evening-orientated digital motif
jacquards add a immediately rectilineal edge.
