It is so hard to believe because it seems like just yesterday, we were welcoming our kids for the start of a new school year. I cant even begin to tell you how PROUD I am of our kids. They have grown in so many ways. Yes, they are growing academically and I am thrilled with their academic growth this year. But what makes my heart happy is what I see outside of academics. We spent the first semester focused on kindness, whole-body listening, empathy, advocacy, and compassion. And they are working so hard on these skills. I couldnt be more proud of them. This social emotional curriculum would not have been possible without our PTO. They purchased the curriculum for all 15 classroom teachers this year and it is making a difference! Thank you, PTO. I hope that you have a safe and memorable winter break. As a reminder, their last day is this Friday and their first day back is January 8 th . Make some memories!! A Message from Mrs. Mize… We are just days away from the end of the first semester. It is so hard to believe because it seems like just yesterday, we were welcoming our kids for the start of a new school year. I can’t even begin to tell you how PROUD I am of our kids. I couldn’t be more proud of them. This social emotional curriculum would not have been possible without our PTO. They purchased the curriculum for all 15 classroom teachers this year and it is making a difference! Thank you, PTO. I hope that you have a safe and memorable winter break. As a reminder, their last day is this Friday and their first day back is January 8

Nurse Notes We are in need of small sizes in boys and girls sweatpants. If you have any to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. If you have a student in need of shoes, please contact me.

From the PTO… Carnival Night was a blast! We hope you had the opportunity to attend and enjoyed the fun. Thank you to all our volunteers who made this event truly spectacular and to the teachers and staff who came back to school that night after a long day! After every event we come together and talk about ways to make it better. We would love your feedback as to how the evening would run more smoothly, new ideas of booths and games, or what worked out well and your favorite parts. Send feedback to [email protected].

Santa Shoppe

December is here. Time for Santa Shoppe!

Kids get your shopping lists ready. There are lots of great gifts and treats for EVERYONE on your list. For all new to Pine Tree, the Santa Shoppe is Pine Tree’s own Holidy Shoppe set up for children to do their personal shopping for the holidays. Each classroom will have a time to visit the Shoppe next week during their scheduled classroom time. A check list and baggie for money will be sent home a few days prior to their shopping day. Parents, please help your children fill out the list for those they wish to pur-chase a gift. Don’t forget Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brother, Sister, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, pets…, the list is endless! Each and every gift at the Santa Shoppe is $2! The students will get to wrap their presents the same day they visit the Shoppe to keep them a surprise! We will need lots of help to make sure each child gets the perfect gift to give! Parents please consider signing-up to volunteer at the Santa Shoppe the week of December 17

th

through 20th. Remember, you must have an approved back-

ground application on file before signing up. Follow this link to access the sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e084cacad2ba1ff2-santa Thank you! Pine Tree PTO

Our next Recreational Road Trip is December 19th. If you are scheduled for this trip, you should have received an invitation this week. We will make reminder calls to those invited. There will be a couple more Road Trips, one in March and our final one in May. Every Pine Tree student that attends will receive a FREE goody bag to take home. Come out and play some games, make a craft, or enjoy a snack with the staff of Pine Tree Elementary!

Thanks to a grant from The Avon Education Foundation, all Pine Tree students will be invited to a Recreational Road Trip at some point this school year.

Mary Lee Maier Community Food Pantry Do you know about the Mary Lee Maier Food Pantry? The Avon community and Avon schools have partnered to provide families with children who attend any Avon school the opportunity to pick up a variety of perishable and non-perishable food items at no cost. The pantry is open once per week on Thursdays from 4:30 – 6:00 on days that school is in session. It is located at Avon Middle School South, inside Door #14. If you find that your family has additional needs beyond what is provided at the pantry, please contact Pine Tree’s school counselor, Kelli Hammes.
